They require a critical mass of positions in both the House and Senate. The House looks good, the Senate looks bad and they need both to do anything.

yeah if they get enough to look big but not big enough they'll face the same issues the dems had this cycle
in _theory_ they had the executive and the legislature but once you get under the hood they have jack shit to get things done
in the GOP case it'll be being obstructionist (which usually has mixed results at best at the box office)

And the seeds were there already. Perotism through the Tea Party and the Ron Paul revolution, and Trump just happened to be someone savvy enough to run with it.
If the party doesn't pick up the populist mantle, it'll be pretty much a wasted opportunity - a neoconservative Republican majority would just fill positions with friends, quash some troublesome executive orders, and generally have no clue what else to do because apart from "winning the game" they don't know what to do with the prize.

There are a lot of seats that need to be taken and the Trumpian Populists only came into existence very recently. It takes time to build an empire... the good news is that the Democrats are creating a bit of a power vacuum.

Oh, the Republicans are getting both chambers of Congress without a doubt. We are past the point of being able to fuck it up.

What matters more is -who- gets in though. It needs to be a critical mass of Trumpian Populists within both chambers, About 30% of Republicans in the House and at least 5 Senators in the Senate.

For the record, we have more or less locked in the House for the Trumpian Populists... as is right now we are at about 24% and the chance of -not- picking up the rest in 2022 is practically nil.

The problem is the Senate. Right now there is only a bunch of grifters pretending at it in the Senate. So we need five brand new ones to all jump on board. This is -technically- possible as that exact number of Republican Senators have chosen to not run again, leaving their seats for the taking. But it'd need to be all five.

Well, that more or less puts a nail in @HumanHive 's idea that getting rid of Biden and making it Harris would solve anything. Even without Biden she polls less than him. And good god that undecided percentage. At those levels, I'd say that the plurality just wouldn't vote.
