In Matt McMuscles's case at least, he is self-aware enough to know he's a pudgy slightly balding dude in his 30s living out his manchild life and retweeting onlyfans cosplay girls on his main account. The neon skeleton hoodie guy avatar is just par for the course for Those Kinds of youtubers.

Some highlights from his career:
Formed a language learning partnership called Mass Immersion Approach (MIA) with a programmer named Yogapants. MIA acrimoniously dissolves, with Yoga accusing Matt of doing not enough work. Here is Yoga's video on the issue. Starts a new venture called Refold, which is mostly just some discord servers and a Patreon account, with 1,799 patrons at time of writing.
Joins the Discord server for 4chan's Daily Japanese Thread (DJT). Gets banned, but joins back with sockpuppets, which reveals some embarrassing details.
Another Japanese learner YouTuber named Anacreon makes a video making fun of Matt. Matt uses the lolcow's secret weapon, YouTube's DMCA system. Anacreon makes another video, which Matt copyright strikes down. Two other copyright strikes are issued by "anonymous" to kill the channel, successful killing the channel. See Anacreon's video and Linktree for his side of the story. Here's an archive of the video that got DMCA'd.
Just this year, he starts a new Japanese language course called Project Uproot (archive from Jan. 16) with Ken Cannon. This is highly intensive, limited enrollment course, priced at $800 (special price $500!) mainly focused on improving a learner's pitch accent. People were immediately annoyed by the aggressive marketing tactics, such as the video attached, which was entitled "this video will be deleted in 48 hours". They were also suspicious because of Matt's and Ken's past failures. Finally, despite being a 'limited enrolment', those that signed up were charged without receiving an acceptance letter (archive).

There's this horror tuber called Scare Theater that used to make these interesting videos debunking dumb internet legends and ghost stories. As autistic as it all was, he really did his research when making the debunked videos, and you could tell they were made from a genuine intrigue in the subject.
Then he started getting Youtube dollars and started making clickbait bullshit that all other horror tubers make. He even contradicted himself by making a video about "unsolved horrors" that featured several Internet legends that he himself debunked.
THEN he partially defended the parents of Desmond is Amazing by taking a mostly neutral stance on them, which got him a lot of flack.
Now he's had a habit of making dumb, conspiracy videos about the right side of politics, including one literally titled "Donald Trump Created the Corona Virus."

TokyoDrew is a Canadian expat who left behind wife and son chasing a one-night Japanese stand around 17 years ago.
He moved to Japan with her and not long after, married her and had a son. Ever since then, he never bothered to learn japanese so he was relegated to teaching English to kids at an eikawa, while his wife was working hard to bring bread home. Due to Drew never learning Japanese, he cannot communicate with his now middle schooler son nor does he communicate with his older, canadian son. He's a chain smoker who never brushes so his teeth have basically corroded down to their gums, spergs at the minimum tease of learning japanese/not being a big shot, was fired out of Peppys (IIRC) due to sexual harrassment towards one of his coworkers, overall public nuissance walking around Tokyo yelling "pocket rocket" at high schoolers.
