I guess Trudeau is just hoping the protest will dissipate and he won't have to do anything? If so then... lol. The only hope the police have of getting all these trucks out of downtown is if they leave voluntarily or get bored. From the looks of things they are anything but bored; their morale is high and they feel confident. The police aren't displaying any real aggression against them. The residents of downtown won't confront them because they're too beta and they know they'll lose a fight. Ottawa and the local police have really screwed the pooch this time.
Cracking down might play well to Ottawans who haven't had any sleep this weekend but I imagine that won't play out very well in the provinces. Trucks honking on a few streets in the capital is the least amount of damage that can be done here. If shit goes down those truckers are going to realize just how much power they actually hold over the government and its absolutely massive. It will make the kickback by the Airline pilots over a similar mandate seem tame.
you're right. say what you will about the yellow vests, there were way more who were forcing their journalists relatives or customers to either support the cause at work or be banished. You'd be surprised how quickly media support happened once the journalists were told straight up by the guys making their food that they didn't appreciate being called nazis. They aren't like americans where they visit a big box store once a month either, its local shops every day, which means their face and name is recognized easier for better and for worse.
