You say "in the next ten years our new initiative will lead to new breakthroughs in leukemia" or whatever you want to pick. And then when that's done, you move on to the next one.
But really this is just going to be a big moneypit for pharmaceuticals as payment for supporting Biden during Covid.

(The TV show did an alternate universe episode where Hillary won where, in her first term, "Cancer was cured" after Hillary "arranged for federal funds, acquired by taxing corporations into near oblivion, to go to Big Pharma to help supercharge cancer research beyond what they were already spending to find a cure".

Which led to the masses rightfully calling bullshit and accusing Hillary of using taxpayer money to BRIBE Big Pharma into releasing to the public all of the cancer cures they've been evilly siting on for decades, all so Hillary can get re-elected by claiming to have been the one who "cured cancer".)

This reeks of a "Plan Omega" where Biden's probably telling Big Pharma they best start putting out onto the market all of the cancer cures they've been squirreling away (because there is no money in curing cancer, just in treating it in piecemeal with expensive treatments they make millions off of) onto the market so Biden can claim to have "cured cancer" so he can run on that. And that the cabinet he is setting up, is to funnel tax payer bribe money to Big Pharma to to make them play ball.

He's literally taking ideas form a liberal propaganda show what next he's going to take ideas form The West Wing.

This is most likely going to fail. We all know Biden just doing this for a win. And it's going to most likely fail and God when it does I hope he gets mocked for it.

There's actually been quite a bit of progress in cancer treatment over the past several decades.

Gene sequencing & data analysis on it have greatly advanced knowledge on which treatments work for different genetically-indicated situations, and the now-real ability to get a patient's genetic information at a reasonable cost & turnaround time greatly increases the chance of successful treatment. There's also been progress in activating the immune system against cancer, which has long been a goal. Those are just two larger areas of progress, there has also been many incremental improvements in making treatments more targeted and less damaging.

Now, with his approval deeply in the tank, Biden's handlers are making a big show of appointing a "super special cabinet". Biden's team will use this farce group to point out the above-mentioned advances & their near-future follow-ons, and imply Biden enabled them (he didn't, at all), giving Joe's abysmal image a boost. A nice infusion of government cash will just happen to find its way to the group's accounts for their services. Image boosts aren't free.

The average American has no idea cancer treatment has progressed notably, and political operatives know they can use that information gap to their advantage. Especially when media is their PR wing and/or too stupid to truly grasp the subject matter anyway (see: Gell-Mann Amnesia. The media is full of narcissist midwits who look good and write/speak well). Besides, if some media outlet gets uppity and points out they're full of shit, they can always slap the DISINFORMATION(tm) label on it.

You guys need to think more like political slime does. Smoke and mirrors is the right answer 99.9% of the time.

I was in japan in like 05, and I had some japanese asking me if one of those shows on fox was real I think it was 24.

I can see this being the intent but I highly doubt they'll be able to implement it with any competency. There isn't a single thing this administration has done that has succeeded. Even when they had a plan in hand (Afghanistan) they fatally screwed it up.

Careful there. I've got a cousin who's a LEO in Texas and he's got this saying: just because the first nine bullets didn't hit you, doesn't mean the tenth one won't. He meant it literally, but it also applies to politics.

It's not all competence or political capital, you can never account for luck or chance. So it's important not to get too comfortable, because sometimes the most desperate political Hail Marys do actually get completed, and this administration is very desperate to implement its authoritarian agenda.
