Less and less given declining viewership and increasing scandals. But maybe if you're a hardcore AVGN fan it would be worth it so you could just tell James to do whatever he has time for (i.e. nothing) and write him a check for the ad revenue from old videos each month. Justin probably wouldn't mind, he'd make a few million off it and can probably pay some scientist to make him an IRL Gengar.

he really should retired it, but he likes easy money more than happiness. said it earlier in the thread, but he should do like 3-5 epsa year at most, if he still wants to do the nerd. Last time I really thought he seemed content was that video he did on his cameras, or for non-nerd scripted content, that Hyde/Jeykell trailer.

You know, it's kind of sad you have to compare AVGN to perpetual fuckups like Linkara, DSP, or god forbid Spoony to make him look good. Which he is, given pretty much everyone from his era seems to have crashed and burned except ironically Irate Gamer who's still somehow trucking along.

By bad businessman, I mean things like opportunities to promote the Cinemassacre brand and himself with cameo appearances in indie films/Godzilla vs Kong (apparently turned down due to "no time") or most glaringly, the bad merchandising and monetization of his channel over the years. As people have mentioned here, he could've been putting in referral links, having someone run a bigger, better web store, or linking to a Patreon. James has very likely missed out on over a million dollars potential revenue, among all the other promotional benefits he'd have from that sort of thing.

I had a really hard time filling in the F slot because by that point (the post-movie and slobwave era) I was really jaded and did not give a singular fuck about AVGN anymore so I only watched those episodes maybe once. Will have to rewatch the two you mention to revaluate.

I'm right there with you, I think his videos starting being really meh after the movie/Schwarzenegger Games, with only a few being above average. Of course with the Screenwave era, it's made some of the episodes I thought were meh/crap like Drake of the 99 Dragons, Charlies Angels or Masters of Teras Kasai look better by comparison.

If you need more F-tier there's Shrek, Episode 200, Sonic 06 both parts, Legend of Kage, maybe Wrestling Games.

When you have no passion for your work, your work sucks. When you do, it tends to be better. It's more fun to watch him do retro/nostalgia reviews now than pretend to be mad at some shitty title from 1998 that he never played when he was a kid anyway.
