Its not like these sorts of things are unheard of. In our own lifetimes too. I am just trying to wrap my mind around the mentality. These sorts of protests don't just come out from nowhere. These aren't bored college kids. These are people with jobs, lives and families. They think there is sufficient threat to their rights as citizens that they should petition their government for redress of grievance.
When those bitches started talking about the war powers act, the police chiefs body posture changed dramatically.

That is the picture of a very worried man.
If the response of the government to these protests is to try and crack down, they really cut down their ability to deescalate the situation. Any number of things can go wrong at that point. The BEST case scenario is the crack down works, this time, but leaves everyone pissed off for the next few decades. Every other scenario goes from really bad to really. fucking. bad. What if the cops refuse to do anything. What if they bring in the Army, and the ARMY joins the protest. What if a firefight breaks out and bodies start hitting the floor.
These are all things anyone in power needs to be thinking about when they consider stuff like this, but these idiots are talking about it so flippantly like its just another day at city hall and its time to vote on raising property taxes. Its unreal. Like, has this bitch even thought about what "bringing in the army" even means? Is it like what Minnesota did during the Floyd Riots? With a bunch of 18 year old's holding M16's with no magazines in the chamber? Standing their impotently and making the situation even more embarrassing? or are you going to issue those some 18 year olds full battle rattle, with armor and 7, 30 round magazines. If so, why and for what purpose?
Casually talking about shit like this as an elected official is unbelievable.
