The Catholic sub is similar to the Muslim one Alhamdulillah , albeit with a few more folks doing some mental gymnastics: ‘The Church has no OFFICIAL position...so...’. Which is incorrect based on the Vatican’s 2019 ‘Male and Female He Created Them’ papers, which calls for compassion, but spells out that there are only two genders that are absolute. These people are caught between faith and virtue signaling, which is a religion in and of itself.

This is more demographics than anything. If you speak to young muslims on campuses you'll find that a lot of them, a lot more than people assume, fall in line with the beliefs of their generation. It's coming later because a lot more of them are recent migrants, but they normalize to the baseline pretty fast. Expect the tone to shift in the next decade, with a lot more people in those subreddits pushing for trans acceptance. To be clear, it's not going to be universal acceptance, but it's going to be inline with religious young people like young catholics.

Ages ago a guy I used to know was posting on twitter about how he got diagnosed with low T in his 20's and had to go on HRT, and how it was really making him feel better and his health problems were steadily improving. Not only have a ton of long standing health issues disappeared, he's now wondering if he ever was trans and maybe was just a gay boy with health problems. He hasn't started to detransition...yet. but he's thinking about it

That said, these posts reminded me of an amusing argument I have encountered in the comment section of MRM, one of the largest and most popular sites for pirated gay fiction. On this site, everything goes as long as it features a romantic or sexual relationship between two males, so the content ranges from gay furry porn to films with gay subplots. The audience, likewise, varies in sexuality and sex.

As such, it is not an exception that a bisexual gender-bender manga, Fucked by My Best Friend, is featured on the site. Furthermore, the site has tags to warn readers that a work features hetero content, should they want to avoid it. Still, this did not stop people in the comments from arguing, and I am rather glad that it did not, as those arguments yielded one of the funniest exchanges I have ever seen on the site.
