I don't think they thought this fuel thing through. It is only going to encourage stockpiling and rationing. Not to mention all of the smuggling that is going to start. It won't end this protest.

It is also going to undermine their authority and drive a wedge between the cops and the people. A relationship that has been largely positive to this point.

I also wouldn't doubt that cops will abscond from duty or look the other way. Many of them support the truckers.

This protest has been "illegal" since the start, but they're hoping to pick off individuals one at a time bringing fuel instead of everybody all at once. So don't let them.

This is a huge movement. It's very easy to add "give the cops their jobs back" to the list of demands. The government is already treading lightly because they know they can't shake the hornet's nest. This movement is big enough now that it is entirely possible, with the wrong moves made, that this will turn into a revolution.

Yes. The pump for the air system that runs the brakes/horns/etc is on the big engine.

They have shown that they schedule their honks. So they could just fire them up and honk for 10 minutes then shut them off for an hour. Rationing.

The big issue is keeping warm at night. I imagine we are going to see the diesel tanks on the tractors drained and transferred to the trucks soon and wood-fired warming stations set up.

Crisco was invented as a quick source of heating oil. All you do is put a wick in the can. If it came down to it, do you think a trucker could crack a window open and light a candle of crisco in the cabin?

I'm just worried that if the tow trucks refuse to tow when/if trucks fuel runs out, that they'll get tow trucks from either Quebec or other parts of the province who are willing to capitulate to the government.

I know we're past the point of the government acting lawfully, but in what way is this possible without revoking the citizenship of protestors and declaring them enemies of the state so you can go after their supporters for treason?

If tow trucks are confirmed to be on their way the truckers can just remove the caging bolts on their air brakes, rendering the truck immobile.
