Problem with Chube is he's taken this [IMO] completely asinine idea to an already stupid extreme. I mean hasnt he talked before about how he wont even mention having a bad hair day or anything like that because he doesnt want to give the TERFS weapons or some shit? This is why he comes off as invulnerable and unreal....but since real people arent invulnerable and unreal, it's also why it lands him right smack in the deepest gorge of the Uncanny Valley. And the more he does it, the more he's gonna come across as a narcy, belligerent, fake asshole like, all the time.
You're absolutely right that even if he wanted to stick to the stupid af notion of "not weaponizing the transphobes", [my pov would be "why even give them that much power, mate? They're just people, not supervillains. But what do do I know], there are so many ways that he could still come across as a sincere, personable, relatable and vulnerable human being.

Fucking misogynists. Women's sex based rights are just a joke to them. "No one should take the concerns of women seriously, but instead pass laws that will benefit a small population of men and harm half of the population (women)."
This was fucking infuriating. We *CAN'T* be the only ones who are put off by or at the very least noticing this misogynistic tripe, right? If the reddit thread debacle did anything good it was to give me hope that we are most certainly not alone here.
Also....I'm not a Shaun and Jen/Shaun superfan or anything but I've watched a lot of their stuff and it's hard to even imagine them being ok with something like that? Not to the point that they'd probably say anything. But I'd be very surprised if they replied at all, or even liked the reply.
And fucking Olly with his "layers" of douchery. There's the overt misogyny of course, but it's also being expressed using a clip of one of his very own OG characters, as though any of his characters (particularly Adelaide [sp?], FFS) have become part of the zeitgeist now. Only in your dreams, babes. I had to look up the brother-lover character's name, fwiw.
Watched the "behind the scenes" special/informercial, thanks to whoever
put it on YouTube. I didn't mean to watch the whole thing but I found the narcissism and delusions of grandeur on display just hypnotic. A few thoughts:
- About 70% of the hour's footage is hair and makeup people fussing and grooming Olly like a pretty princess. He clearly takes enormous, almost erotic interest in seeing himself being primped and preened and painted and combed and powdered this way, it's constant and never ends. Even when the voiceover is about something else, the visuals are of Olly being fluffed like the glamorous mega-celebrity he imagines himself as. This excites him.
You're exactly right. I noticed it but didnt think about it so much. But yeah, it was- inappropriately- like a huge portion of the video. Of course he loves being fussed over and fluffed and preened like that. It's probably his
#1 dream and/or fantasy or turn-on.
