Can I just say that I absolutely despise their "breakdown" streams since they're obviously being used my Mauler in lieu of proper critique and they almost always last longer than the series they're reviewing anyway so what's the fucking point? The critique itself is often bad since it's all off the cuff and unscripted so the opinions and argumentation will often be unrefined and poorly thought out compared to a properly scripted review. Plus this fucker has NINE people in it, there's no way that they can deliver a coherent breakdown with that kind of chaos. The best critique they ever had post-Wolf was when Fringy delivered his hot take on Bojack Horseman and, whilst I don't agree overall, he did actually have a somewhat coherent argument that covered issues with the entire show in around 20 or so minutes.

Man Critical drinker just screams wasted potential to me.Like I haven't read his books so I could be wrong but judging by his videos he clearly does have at least some knowledge of storytelling past nitpicking every facet of star wars,Disney and every other reboot and sequel that gets churned out year by year yet all he seems to use it on is making video after video on the aforementioned subjects. I hope in the future he makes videos on movies and TV shows that isn't capeshit and star wars crap yet judging by the fact that he's still part of the EFAP bubble ,though thankfully doesn't seem to have been fully consumed by it,I can't see it happening any time soon.

He's not wrong... in a sense. It is possible to write a story with intending to have a theme. Stories can be enjoyed without the knowledge of the theme. However, you also can't SEPARATE the theme from the story because the story and themes serve each other. The theme gives the story a more organic direction to go in, and the story reinforces the theme. But as usual, Rags and MauLer try to devalue and dismiss anything above them so they can be the king of the mountain.

Its really comes down to the grift, they keep inserting random current event shit that has nothing to do with their supposed "entertainment based show", the last one with Nick Rekita was almost entirely about them trying to basic bitch explain the trucker situation in Canada for three hours to their audience, then circlejerk clap with superchatters for the next two. For dipshits who keep complaining about wanting media to go back to being non-partisan and apolitical, they're doing a real shit job at making their "entertainment" (if you can even call it that) live up to their standards.

The sequels were plagued by executive meddling, who felt that teenage Ben should be more like his kid self. This resulted in massive continuity errors/retcons and Ben's development constantly regressing. The real decline started around Alien Force Season 3 and continued until Ben 10 got rebooted.

I imagine EFAP will have an easier time ripping into Ben 10 as it's more flawed than ATLA. I do remember EFAP mentioning the show a few times. There were several EFAP memes that included Ben 10 in EFAP 61. Wolf says the show is bad, even though he claimed he had no memory of it. In EFAP 83, a superchat asked who would win, Green Lantern vs Ben 10. Rags, with his hyper brain, said GL would win because Ben is a dumb kid who turns into monsters. Do remember that he, along with MauLer, aren't aware of either source material and are just talking out of their ass.

As one of the ten people who liked Alien Force (quite a bit, actually), I'm glad MauLer is too high-maintenance of a viewer (not a reviewer; just a normal member of the audience) to handle "cartoon logic". I'd rather he keep his half-assed attempts of criticism and analysis to Hollywood. Plus, if he touched any form of Ben 10, he'd try SO hard to get Ink Tank on board.

You got to wonder what other mental gymnastics they have to do to enjoy most of the MCU when it's only a few steps above cartoon logic for most of the movies. I think it's even worse. Maybe this is a bit of tinfoil hat/armchair psychology territory, but I think he wants Southpaw to dislike Arcane because if he doesn't, that means he'll have to dislike it because he can't like the same thing as Southpaw. This is something I've seen in a few times in the efap chat, where they start saying they dislike X, only for people to respond that they liked it but now that they're hearing the review, they "realize" they actually don't. And with these new shows, they basically act neutral until Mauler or someone else officially tells them whether it's okay to like/dislike something.

This by no means applies to all of his fans, because there's also plenty of examples of the opposite. There's even a fair amount of posters here who stumbled onto the thread who heard one of efaps bad takes and decided to stop watching instead of mindlessly changing their opinion.

I know I’m late on replying about this, but this seems like Mauler is now blatantly just shitting on people simply for enjoying something. Like, I watched the first episode of TBOBF with my dad, but I’m not interested in it at all. Yet this seems to fly in the face of his whole sentiment that he doesn’t care if people like or enjoy something that’s oBJeCtIvElY bad.

So I guess Mauler’s now saying you aren’t allowed to enjoy something if he doesn’t like it.
