I don't even think the New Testament mentions homosexuality at all?
That's where you're wrong chief.

That was one thing he always talked about. He talked about how we “lost” our ways. He talked about religious shit during some of his speeches. He always hinted at liking older “values”. It was all a lie but he ran on it. That’s ways so many old fucks voted for him.
I grew up in an atheistic household and was able to enjoy things growing up that other homes didn’t. I was able to enjoy videos games, cartoons, books, and other media that Christians didn’t let their kids take part in. I remember when Harry Potter came out and my schools got threats of lawsuits over having the books in their libraries. I remember parents telling kids what hell will be like since their kids read the chamber of secrets. Imagine, telling your kids that they’re going to hell for reading a child book. Constantly striking fear into your kids for the littlest of things is horrible. That’s something I never got about religion.
Grew up in a very moderate evangelical household. Knew people that couldn't watch Digimon because of dragons but their mom didn't know Pokemon had dragons. Gamefreak doesn't realize how much they helped that guy by giving Charizard a fire/flying typing. Meanwhile, I could listen to death metal.

Sodomites literally has its origins from describing people from Sodom that did anal
The Sodomites also threatened to commit male rape against both Lot and his two angel guests, ignoring Lot's offer of his virgin daughters instead:
4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house; 5 and they called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, so that we may know them.” 6 Lot went out of the door to the men, shut the door after him, 7 and said, “I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly. 8 Look, I have two daughters who have not known a man; let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please; only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof.” 9 But they replied, “Stand back!” And they said, “This fellow came here as an alien, and he would play the judge! Now we will deal worse with you than with them.” Then they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near the door to break it down. 10 But the men inside reached out their hands and brought Lot into the house with them, and shut the door. 11 And they struck with blindness the men who were at the door of the house, both small and great, so that they were unable to find the door.

It’s all from Paul’s letters, which is pretty funny. I’ve never considered Paul’s letters much more than evidence of the interference of man’s interpretation in the desires and teachings of the divine. Influential on the early church, for sure, but it’s very dubious to put it in the canon, at least to me.
Modern Christianity really has more to do with Paul than it does with Jesus. Makes sense given that Jesus was a Jew whereas Paul was the one who actually explicitly codified Christianity as a separate religion.

the term "sodomite" still doesn't automatically mean gay.

It also depends on what translation of the bible you actually have, too.

The King James version, the most common one, is full of mistranslations, and intentional changes. Hebrew is an insanely confusing language, and in the previous versions of the bible, the line speaking about how men should not lie with other men, depending on how the verse was supposed to read, either meant to not rape people (specifically men), to not engage in incest (again, specifically with men) or to not fuck children (specifically male children).

This last one is probably the closest one because the Hebrew word used in that verse is actually a word that refers specifically to young boys.

It also doesn't specifically refer to homosexuality itself being a sin. The sin in context is actually sex for the sake of sex, and sex for the sake of violence. Ever notice how there's never any mention of homosexuality outside of assault, and sex acts? Exactly.

A reason for this could be is that there was really no such thing as safe sex back then, so people who fucked constantly (sodomites, and fornicators, specifically) often did so with little, to no regard as to who, what, where, and how they were fucking.

Because of this they were often riddled with disease. Sodomites in particular were at great risk due to how they could also catch incredibly dangerous illnesses by the very nature of their acts. Simply put, another person's shit isn't the safest thing to jamming your dick into, and even back then, people knew that.

Furthermore, sexual assault, and rape has always been seen as a monstrous act, even during the time, and even if the ways to deal with the aftermath of it were horrible. It's not a far-stretch for the bible to say it's as bad for when it's men-on-men as it is when it's men-on-women.

Tl;dr: The bible is a mistranslated trainwreck that only cares about sex acts and not whether, or not Chad is in love with Brad. Theoretically, so long as they aren't fucking each other, raping, or molesting anyone, engaging in incest, or spreading disease everywhere, they're fine.

It does mean to sodomise/sodomy, which is always meant in relation to male homosexuality, because of what the people of Sodom wanted to inflict upon specifically the (male) Angels and Lot, and not young virgin women, in Judaism, Christianity and even Islam.

source: dude trust me
Our modern use of the word "sodomy" comes from the Latin peccatum Sodomiticum ("sin of Sodom").

In Islamic cultures it comes from لواط, which means "Lot" (pronounced "Lut" in Arabic), again a reference to the Sodomites, as the word means "the practice of Lot['s people"] aka the Sodomites.

The worse thing the Sodomites did was try to rape angels sent straight from God himself as messengers, also threatening to commit the same acts against Lot. Hence the use of their names in regard to the sexual act they tried to force upon Lot and his guests.

FYI, I don't follow any of the religious teachings of this attitude towards [male] homosexuality, but the Abrahamic religions are really anti-[male] homosexuality and are quite unambiguous and emphatic about it, be it in the Hebrew Bible, Pauline texts or the Qur'an.

i guess that a lot of biblical verses are very anti-anal sex, but it's not because being gay is inherently a sin. it's more so due to rules about cleanliness, because female homosexuality is never mentioned and straight women can definitely get infections if their male partners do butt stuff first and then perform vaginal penetration.

also rules like kosher are due to cleanliness, not some weird sinful nature BS.

on top of that, it was translated from Hebrew to Greek to English. If you're not translating something directly from one language to another somethings going to get lost in translation.
t. translated shit before

God blessed a closeted self-hating gay King of England and made his translation the WORD OF GOD and you will BURN if you think otherwise.
