How long before San Francisco and Los Angeles said "Hold my Beer"?You knows we've hit peak clown world when New Yorkers start unfurling Leaf flags. Honk honk!
Why is the old flag racist? Because it's old?Yeah, I even saw on some news reports the old Red Ensign with some people denouncing it as racist.
Manhattan, and a small part of Brooklyn, is where the bugpeople live, the rest of the boroughs and state are heavily blue collar. You knows we've hit peak clown world when New Yorks start unfurling Leaf flags.
I love the irony that their worldview ("Why would I need a car when I live in a major urban area?") means they literally couldn't even get to their political opponents. They've made themselves impotent and helpless and dependent on the state by design and they call it 'virtue'.Part of this is likely seething jealousy that their playbook is so much more effective when people who actually own things and have skin in the game do it.
There's a big difference between that and using a government-funded infrastructure to keep track of it. If these businesses want to go to the time and effort and expense of rolling their own vax mandate, let them.I have mixed feelings about the "private businesses vaxxpass" thing because whatever happens regarding that also affects "my bakery shouldn't be forced to make gay child drag queen gender wedding cakes."
Businesses should be free to serve whomever they chose, right or wrong. It's your labor, and you choose who to give it to. But the state should not be facilitating or encouraging your choices one way or the other.I have mixed feelings about the "private businesses vaxxpass" thing because whatever happens regarding that also affects "my bakery shouldn't be forced to make gay child drag queen gender wedding cakes."
I remember there being some kind of restaurant in California years ago that instituted a tax on male patrons in order to smash the paderchocky. It closed. This could be incredibly naïve, and I don't like anybody doing it, but I think the majority of businesses most likely to have vaxxpasses are also the type that do shit like that or sell overpriced organic craft beer to soy millennials in gentrified buildings. People vote with money.
If businesses can choose to put up a "NO PUREBLOODS" sign, then TPTB should at least have the decency to allow private businesses to ban certain races, genders, or sexual orientations again.I have mixed feelings about the "private businesses vaxxpass" thing because whatever happens regarding that also affects "my bakery shouldn't be forced to make gay child drag queen gender wedding cakes."

Any business that willingly discriminates based on the status of vaccination deserves to be razed to the ground. So apparently during the Q&A Kenney stated that individual businesses can still discriminate with the vax passes, and the QR codes will still exist for those businesses to use, so basically he's just taking the blame off himself/his govt and putting it onto businesses.
And of course leaving the door open for when he wants to bring it back in full force.
Oh yeah and he also said that we'll "probably need to take an annual covid shot"
Yeah I'm not excusing the government-funded aspect of it. I don't like that. The state shouldn't force businesses to force what the state wants.I love the irony that their worldview ("Why would I need a car when I live in a major urban area?") means they literally couldn't even get to their political opponents. The provincial premiers probably see the writing on the wall. Trudeau has been claiming his own capital has been occupied by LITERALLY NAZIS for the past week and has done absolutely Jack shit to end the crisis. If he can't even sort out his own seat of power wtf can he do to help the provinces thousands of kilometers away where the anger is not coming from outside but from within.Clear victory? Not sure.

In addition to this, the premier of Saskatchewan is ending proof of vaccinations and proof of negative test results on Valentine's day (thanks for the love, Mr. Moe). Also, mask mandates are ending on February the 28th.

To close this off, I'd like to say that this was kind of unsurprising. I lived in Canada my whole life, and I've never perceived "my" government to be anything other than frail and sensitive to major pushback.
There's not much of a chance that the government will send any military personnel to stop the Ambassador Bridge blockade; at most, I think they're going to gradually deploy somewhere close to 75 to 100 SWAT guys on foot for supervision over the next few weeks. I say "gradually" because the Canadian gov't probably doesn't want to startle the convoy too quickly.
At the moment, I can imagine that Trudeau and guys like him are just waiting for the truckers to get bored or go away somehow, but this isn't happening until we join the dinosaurs. Truckers are absolutely everywhere, and they know how much influence they have. It doesn't matter if you're left wing, right wing, up wing or down wing, you can't possibly say that they don't have all the cards.
But at the end of the day, should you listen to me? I don't know. Perhaps I'm a fool, just like this guy.

am I to understand that the freedom of assembly isn't a thing in canada?
That one example I mentioned sort of did, but they closed. If businesses can choose to put up a "NO PUREBLOODS" sign, then TPTB should at least have the decency to allow private businesses to ban certain races, genders, or sexual orientations again.
They have no Bill of Rights.am I to understand that the freedom of assembly isn't a thing in canada?
Fucking TRUDEAU marched with them and they're still crying muh raycism. Fuck. Off.
Not under the emergency act, it's a convenient loophole that our Charter (constitution) allows for the govt to basically veto any of our "rights" if they deem an emergency.am I to understand that the freedom of assembly isn't a thing in canada?
