Darlings,
Although NATO is defensive pact Russia (nor CCCP) was never asked to join the structures but only created a joint office to cooperate with foolish premise that 1990's and beginning of new century is Fukuyama's end of history and nothing could possibly go wrong. Back when Putin started his 1st term he was adored in the West. Even though he created a false flag attack to provide a casus bello against Chechnya he brings some kind of stability to loomed in streets mob attacks of Russia and ongoing recession.

Some time ago Russian foreign ministry led by Lavrov said something disturbing that may give a glimpse on what Russia is playing. He described post-Soviet republics and Eastern Block former satellites not as independent nor sovereign but as "stray". This leads to conclusion that panslavism is brought to Russian realpolitik as a method to regain control over former sphere of influence not based on communist heritage but way back to glory of Russian Tsar's against whom Europe was trembling in fear. Thus, Putin views himself not as a saviour to long dead state with cracked economic system based on central planning and quotas in industrial branches but on Russian Empire from 19th century that despite popular opinion was doing formidably well before Great War (and even during first year of war).
Well, somebody needs to make Europeans quake in fear.

It's really apparent, isn't it?

I have noticed this trend over the last 10 or so years. They just stopped giving context or explanation to anything.

It was like the Syrian civil war, where apparently it was just the Syrian government fighting no one. Just bombing hospitals every day.
"Trust me bro" is basically all we are going to get, at least with Iraq they had to bullshit and fabricate evidence.

I was in a store today and they have CNN on. They are going absolutely apeshit over the possibility of Russia invading Ukraine. So that tells me....

And why are there no coherent reasons as to why Russia would want to invade Ukraine on Twatter or the MSM. Just Russian the BIG bad Bear.
Vlad wants to be a proper Tsar, that's why he wants Ukraine. Also, to teach us a lesson.

I was getting excited about a Ukraine war, since I was hoping it would mean World of Tanks headquarters would get bombed. But then I realized they were in Belarus.

The following is from the Russian-French talks news conference.

Does anyone know what 'Paragraph 5 of the Treaty of Rome' is? Is it Article 5, is it a paragraph of another article?

Do you realise that if Ukraine joins NATO and decides to take Crimea back through military means, the European countries will automatically get drawn into a military conflict with Russia? Of course, NATO’s united potential and that of Russia are incomparable. We understand that, but we also understand that Russia is one of the world’s leading nuclear powers, and is superior to many of those countries in terms of the number of modern nuclear force components. But there will be no winners, and you will find yourself drawn into this conflict against your will. You will be fulfilling Paragraph 5 of the Treaty of Rome in a heartbeat, even before you know it.

RECOGNISING that the removal of existing obstacles calls for concerted action in order to guarantee a steady expansion, a balanced trade and fair competition,*

I don't think that getting involved in a landwar in Asia is exactly what they meant when the Treaty of Rome was signed.
* Gayest font colour I could find in order to accurately relay the tone of the EEC

Darling,
Chechnya, Georgia, Donbas, Lugansk, Crimea in just last 14 years. War with Georgia started by shooting down drone in Osetia giving false casus for Russia to invade Georgia way up to the capital in Tbilisi. Till this day Georgia didn't regain control over Osetia and Abkhazia. The president of Georgia was - if my memory is correct - former mayor of Odessa, Saakashvili who started talks with NATO for access its structures. Russia was trying to get him out of the office several times and once it couldn't be done by internal Georgian measures they decided on full invasion of this poor, little country.

Donbas and Lugansk, along with Crimea, are another examples of Russia violating integrity over neighbouring country based in swift change of power.

We would have similiar scenario in case of Baćka from Belarus losing election and leaving the office like Yanukivic did. Putin wouldn't hesitate to invade Belarus if Tsihanouskaya held the office.

Above all else - its not.

Russia partitioned Ukraine and took what rightfully belong to Ukraine based on decision way back to Chrushchev who decided that Crimea is part of Ukrainian Socialist Soviet Republic. Russian Federation since 1991 was hesitant to establish borders with Ukraine and to this very day there is not agreement on where exactly demarcation line follows. You won't read this in Kremlin statements because its inconvenient truth.
Also, NATO is defensive pact and none (zitch) NATO members are drawn to conflict which another member country started, for example, Turkish involvement in Syria.
I was with you until you said "rightfully belong to ukraine" ukraine is russia..... Ukraine will become one with Russia again, with or without the pedophile in office.

Forgot to mention how Saakashvili was a low-grade grifter who is currently imprisoned in his home country of Georgia on charges of corruption. Funny how all the "pro-NATO opposition types" turn out to be shameless bootlicking grifters the moment you shine the spotlight on them.

Hey what does that patch mean?

Assad was GASSING HIS OWN PEOPLE, because... uh... because he's a bad man! Pay no attention to the moderate, centrist, head-chopping jihadis the CIA keeps accidentally supplying with weapons.

Just like Gaddafi suddenly became the Next Hitler overnight and without any warning, and NATO started bombing his country and supporting more of those moderate centrist jihadis. Crazy how these things work.

Also, NATO is defensive pact

:story:

I don’t take any sides in this conflict. Maybe I’m more sympathetic to Ukraine and Ukrainians but I don’t take the side of Russia or NATO/America.

Why?

America is run by a Jewish plutocracy. Russia is run by a Jewish oligarchy. Ukraine is run by a Jewish comedian.

The ordinary Ukrainian people are gonna suffer the most from this at the end of the day. Putin is in bed with Chabad Lubavitch and also the Russian mafia. No good actors in this conflict.

Except it's a Russian playbook to jam Twitter with random Twitter accounts generating nonsense whenever HAPPENINGS starts. You keep on defending Russia's honour though.
"It's the RUSSIANS, pal!"
That's right, Vince, everyone is Ivan Koloff.

Нет блядь, это однозначно американцы засирают русскоязычный сектор Твиттера с 2012 года, канешн.

This isn’t happening.
12 landing ships in the Black Sea and now half of Black Sea and all of Azov Sea is covered by NOTAM regarding Russia's missile "exercise".

How very "not happening".

There's one Finnish politician who was forced to step down because he said something that triggered the "NATOpuffs".
Despite Finland long resisting calls to be put on a path to joining NATO (though closely cooperating with the military alliance), a political scandal has emerged this week after a top Finnish politician stated that it should be made clear that Ukraine will not joint NATO.

Member of the Finns Party Mika Niikko was forced to step down as parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee chair over a Tuesday morning tweet. He stated while French President Emmanuel Macron was in Moscow meeting Putin that the French leader "should say publicly that Ukraine will not become a member of NATO."

"Otherwise, the negotiations will be considered a failure from a Russian perspective and the consequences will be terrible. Are there no wise heads of state in the West who know Russia?" Niikko wrote further.

His party issued an immediate reprimand and the tweet created a media storm of controversy, with Finnish officials quick to clarify to Finland's Western allies that this is not the country's position on the Ukraine matter.

"Finland's position is clear and has been restated regularly," Centre MP Joonas Könttä said in the wake of the controversy. "All independent states have the right to decide on their own security. It is not Finland's place to advise on how other states should make those decisions".

According to Finnish media, Niikko deleted the tweet, saying "I openly admit that the tweet I published this morning was poorly formulated"...

He soon deleted the tweet, which suggested that Russia would not regard this week's visit to Moscow by Macron as a success unless such a statement was forthcoming.
Niikko then told Yle that he supported Ukraine's sovereignty, and had worded his tweet carelessly.
"The goal was not to take a position on whether Ukraine could seek Nato membership," said Niikko. "Ukraine is fully entitled to make its own decisions."

The politician, who has had prior "gaffes" stir national controversy, explained further, "Everyone knows that Ukraine and Nato decide on possible membership applications themselves, nobody else has a say." He added: "It is not about a move in a certain direction, my comment was acknowledging the reality that in this situation, Nato is not going to save Ukraine. That is my personal opinion," and sought to clarify: "Finland's foreign policy line is that we give full support for Ukrainian sovereignty."

Western officials have broadly faced immense media pressure to present only hawkish and confrontational views aimed at Russia. This also includes the US Congress. For example, GOP Sen. Josh Hawley has been slammed as somehow "pro-Putin" for merely saying that China, not Russia is America's real long-term rival and enemy.
