You know, I think part of the reason this is so effective is that not only is it impossible to deal with the truckers AFTER they’re in place, there’s also no way to actually prevent it short of preemptively vanning every trucker.
Once they’re on the road, what the fuck are you going to do? By definition, attempting to keep them out of the city still accomplishes their goals, because you’re just replacing a blockade of trucks with a blockade of police cars. The only real way to stop it is to have state police intercept and blockade them long before they reach their destination and routing traffic around the blockade, but even THAT isn’t a real solution.
This is deadly because once it grows past a certain scale*, it cannot be prevented and it cannot be stopped.
*and the thing is it’s not even a particularly big scale. 5 trucks? Easy enough to arrest the truckers and tow their trucks to the side of the road. Might leave things clogged up for a couple hours. 15-20 trucks? Starts to become a major headache, will likely leave the road completely blocked for a day or two. 50-100 trucks, not to mention hundreds and thousands, quickly becomes unmanageable, as has been shown.
