Some people really need to touch grass and understand that you should love VTubers like you would a celebrity you admire. Do not love them as a friend and certainly not as a romantic partner.

Was expecting this opinion to be a little more unpopular here, but I think it's fair.

A streamer is a human, and deserves to have human relationships.
A streamer is not your friend or girlfriend, and you're not entitled to know anything about their personal lives, including relationship status.
These particular streamers are additionally playing a character, they could explicitly say "I'm single!" as the character and not be lying.
Additionally, flirting and teasing is not a relationship, and should not come with any expectations.

But even with all that in mind... Rushia always seemed to take it a little too far for my tastes, and that's why I stayed away from her to begin with.
Most VTubers just act cute on stream, don't explicitly mention any boyfriends or husbands, and for that, wind up with some delusional fans... and that sucks. But specifically pandering to those delusional fans, she kinda made her own bed and now she's gonna lie in it. We can only hope there's no physical violence from either person's fans.

Side note, but I've almost entirely stopped watching KawaiiPro because of too much GFE. Check out a Reina Sun stream sometime: you can watch her gachikois fall deeper and deeper into delusion in real-time, it's scary.

She'll survive, for sure, but I'm not sure Towa's a good comparison. Was Towa leaning heavily into GFE at the time? Honest question because I didn't learn about VTubers until way later.

I'm guessing the last time you checked was before Dec 17th.
When dislike counts were removed from the Youtube UI, they were still available through the API for another month, because with breaking changes you need to give application developers time to update.
After that time, third-party applications are no longer able to access dislike counts unless they submit a form to Youtube explaining why their application needs them.

But hey, if there's something that squeaked past onto that whitelist (or found some hacky workaround) I'm all ears.

As someone who watched her PL as much as I could I can say her general demeanour hasn't changed one bit. If it's kayfabe, it's kayfabe she's stuck with through 3 V-Tuber iterations.

I think she knows more about degenerate jokes and stuff than she lets on but she was never one to really lean into it and has never been up to date on memes.

Fancucks didn't spend money hoping for Rushia to literally fuck them. human interaction will increasingly become the most valuable commodity, these people are just a symptom. Chuubas brought GFE to a different level of ironic distance because they're anime girls, you can lie to yourself by saying of course you don't actually want to date the 2D girl, while still having a "live" experience that otakus who build altars to their waifus won't have. Last year some dude named ochadoji basically went bankrupt making donos to people who are now in vshojo like Silvervale and Melody. 40-50k in donations in a span of a few months. If I remember the dudes story right he was overseas working as a contractor and by the time he got back to the states he had donod almost all his money to them.

He got a bit parasocial about things and every single one of them blocked him and their jannies banned him from their discord communities.

I bring this up again because, it could be worse for orca - he could have been simping that much money at someone who wasn't even pretending to be GFE or whatever lmao
