Plagued /vt/ and related vtuber lunacy - Touhou brony console wars

However Japanese culture is extremely different with their approach with things
Amouranth's chat janny meltdown over giving her $13k before finding out she was married shows that this isn't endemic to Japan, no need to argue whether the east or west has the less terrible simp culture.
This incident (as well as the Mori one) are mainly embarrassing because being a vtuber means being given an entire character to separate your own life from, and even then some people can't do it. It's more surprising that it took this long for something like this to happen.

Well I should rephrase how it's more prevalent in Japan then over here. Of course there are simps out there from every region of the world, but you also have to take into consideration that Rushia streams in Japan, where idol culture is autistically strict, and often fans are also retarded in their beliefs on what they should and shouldn't be.

I do agree with this. A complete oversite of hers. If she has a BF which constantly messages her Discord where she also uses said program to do her job and communicate with her fellow Vtubers, you'd think she'd maybe triple-check on whether she has notifications on, or better yet, maybe have her Discord on DND or mute her BF.

"Guy who sent $34k" is one thing, even just the top 6 superchatters exceeds $150k USD. What a disaster.

Apparently there is a site dedicated to Rushia and her IRL counterpart. They've already updated it with the Discord message.

(Before somebody tries to tell you this is a nothingburger, why would a big-time music guy feel the need to discord message a streamer [who they're not currently streaming with] to tell them that they're heading home?)

5ch seethe, 83000 posts/day about this
This is notable for many reasons, including spreading to JP Twitter, since Mafumafu (composer/singer) has his own brand of insane fans, Rushia's entire stream personality is (your) batshit clingy girlfriend from which she earns ridiculous superchat money from, and also because this is right on the heel of Valentine's day.

No refunds, indeed.
On a whim I decided to look up the mafumafu guy and stumbled onto this tweet, which I thought was from recent events, but turned out to be from 3.5 years ago:

Not that it means anything as I've not seen any of the purported evidence in either case, but I did find the coincidence chuckle-worthy.

I think the main difference when comparing this situation to the Calli x Connor situation is that since Calli's fans are primarily English, they don't have the same thought process and can at least let go of things like this. However Japanese culture is extremely different with their approach with things, especially with Idols dating men.
Correct me if I'm wrong because most of my exposure to the Calli Connor sideshow has been this thread, but isn't this situation way bigger than the Calli thing for even more than the audience difference? Like, /vt/ and anyone can complain about getting cucked by Calli, but she hasn't been outed as dating Connor (again, correct me if I'm wrong). She just defended him more than a little overzealously. And Calli's talked with men pre-Connor incident too.

The huge difference seems to me to be the near-confirmation that Rushia and Mafumafu are actually in a committed relationship. Without a doubt, the Japanese audience bit comes into play, but the Americans can definitely get parasocially attached. For example, if more of them knew that Mumei has a boyfriend, I think her support (has some of the highest views in HoloEN IIRC) would drop pretty quickly. The moment the VTuber is revealed to be in a relationship is the moment the "I could still possible date her one day" delusion is torn apart.

That's it. It was a nothingburger to me at least because she can interact with whoever she wants. It wasn't a big deal to me, I just thought the fans were being really gay over her befriending a man who has different opinions that some people don't like and she has interacted or at least wants to interact with people, for example, Moistcritkal. Connor and Calli aren't dating just to let you know.

Yep, that's it. The main difference is Calli was just friends with someone, but now there is significant amount of evidence to think Rushia is in a relationship. Neither does it help too when she does Yandere-type shit to her fans on a somewhat regular basis.

Are you telling me these women aren't virgin idols and have a normal life & relationships outside of their job?

Well, it is not a nothingburger in the sense that this will definitely hurt her simp buck income.

And now for the people who use normal language:

Japanese r.etards are angry because a streamer with a cartoon avatar is dating another streamer with a cartoon avatar?

Is that what happened?

She's dating a popular singer from what I've gathered.

She sent this to her members only.
rushia members only.jpg

Only fitting she'd send this to the people that paid for a membership for her.

Maybe it's :optimistic: but I do hope this little event will help Japanese nerds to realize that this idea of the virginal seiso idol isn't realistic or healthy, either for the fan or the idol. Romance and sexuality are important part of the human experience. To insist that idols eschew them is to insist they reject part of their humanity. Similarly it's just not healthy for the fans to have their own experiences of those things connected to something which isn't real and never will be.

Or... ya know... get a personal laptop and keep personal shit off of your work computer? It's baffling that they don't at least have a Discord account that's used purely for "work" purposes, since that shit's literally free.

When you work in an industry where keeping your IRL identity and relationships hidden is top-billing important, and when you're making obscene amounts of money doing it, there's literally no excuse to not do at least this little bit of opsec.

Well Vtubers aren't known to be very bright in terms of intelligence. They play games for a living for God's sake.

I mean they work for a corporation, this shit should be mandated top-down. Given how much they pull in in superchats, you couldn't possibly convince me that Cover couldn't afford to ship each of the girls a decent gaming rig to use as a work computer, and set up company emails, Discord accounts, etc. that can only be used for official business.

As they grow, shit like this will only start happening more often, as it'll get harder and harder to maintain oversight over a progressively larger roster. Behaving like a real company and having your employees not do work on their personal hardware would go a long way in cutting this shit out.

Perhaps, but I suppose this will be the wakeup call for Cover to get their shit straight, and maybe the girls can start caring about their identity by making socks and the like for their personal life, rather than having one account for both personal and work, but maybe I'm being :optimistic:
