The Ambassador Bridge blockade is now effectively over, cops managed to clear the street north of it this morning (12 arrests or so as well). To my knowledge the crossing is still closed (lol) but it'll likely be operational for tomorrow. Seven days of blockade is nothing to scoff at though.
Yeah this won't pass, but it will force the Libs to publicly come out against even considering planning for lifting restrictions which isn't a good look right now. Interesting to see what the Bloc does, they might side with the Cons on this while the NDP further plumb the depths of irrelevancy.
No veto powers like the American President, if an act passes Parliament you're required to implement it as head of the governing party. Now there's a bunch of caveats like dragging your feet, stonewalling, and filibustering (see the WE scandal and the crap concerning the two Chinese scientists at the Winnipeg biolab), but in general the governing party agrees to see the act implemented in principle. Only option Trudeau has to shut it down is to make it a vote of non-confidence - i.e. forcing a snap election if he loses the vote - but that is very unlikely to happen here as none of the federal parties want an election at this moment.
