You really shouldn't be. While political engagement is more widespread then twenty years ago, this does not mean adherents are more steadfast or principled. The current business model for SM incentivises controversy, hostility and brainrot.
A large group of youngish people who spend entirely too much time online pick up on all kinds of ideas in an environment where basic decency is optional, safeguards are non-existent and where their elders can't reach them in a meaningful sense.

They don't arrive at their ideas through contemplation, reading books, or asking themselves harsh questions about their position. They're shocked into their beliefs and face ostracization if they open their trap, which is why they lack principles.
This is compounded by the horrible lack of standards seen in US/UK media, increasing geopolitical tensions, the logical conclusion of the FPTP principle, and a tangible deterioration of Western living standards.

Modern social movements are widespread and fast, but brittle and fragile for that same reason. Take if from a European conservative, I just want better enemies.

Social media has alienated an entire generation from their elders. I often worry about raising a child of my own, how the hell do I limit the damage the Web 2.0 will inevitably cause their developing pysche?

I'm rereading Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archives series right now. There's a passage at the end of Way of Kings that I think holds a lot of truth about human nature. It's pretty profound for a fantasy novel. (It does actually relate to the concept of social media and wokeness and purity spirals.)

Spoiled for length, if you've read the Stormlight Archives or the last three books of Wheel of Time you know that Sanderson is wordy:

(Also, this contains no actual spoilers for the book if anyone cares about that.)

TL:Dr: the bolded and italicized lines.

Wit began playing the enthir. “Let us have a conversation to pass the time. Tell me. What is it that men value in others?”

The music played toward an audience of silent buildings, alleys, and worn cobblestones. The guards didn’t respond to him. They didn’t seem to know what to make of a black-clad, lighteyed man who entered the city just before evening fell, then sat on boxes beside the gates playing music.
“Well?” Wit asked, pausing the music. “What do you think? If a man or woman were to have a talent, which would be the most revered, best regarded, considered of the most worth?”

“Er… music?” one of the men finally said.

“Yes, a common answer,” Wit said, plucking at a few low notes. “I once asked this question of some very wise scholars. What do men consider the most valuable of talents? One mentioned artistic ability, as you so keenly guessed. Another chose great intellect. The final chose the talent to invent, the ability to design and create great devices.”He didn’t play a specific tune on the enthir, just plucks here and there, an occasional scale or fifth. Like chitchat in string form.

“Aesthetic genius,” Wit said, “invention, acumen, creativity. Noble ideals indeed. Most men would pick one of those, if given the choice, and name them the greatest of talents.” He plucked a string. “What beautiful liars we are.”

The guards glanced at each other; the torches burning in brackets on the wall painted them with orange light.

“You think I’m a cynic,” Wit said. “You think I’m going to tell you that men claim to value these ideals, but secretly prefer base talents. The ability to gather coin or to charm women. Well, I am a cynic, but in this case, I actually think those scholars were honest. Their answers speak for the souls of men. In our hearts, we want to believe in—and would choose— great accomplishment and virtue. That’s why our lies, particularly to ourselves, are so beautiful.”

He began to play a real song. A simple melody at first, soft, subdued. A song for a silent night when the entire world changed.

One of the soldiers cleared his throat. “So what is the most valuable talent a man can have?” He sounded genuinely curious.“

I haven’t the faintest idea,” Wit said. “Fortunately, that wasn’t the question. I didn’t ask what was most valuable, I asked what men value most. The difference between those questions is both tiny and as vast as the world itself all at once.”

He kept plucking his song. One did not strum an enthir. It just wasn’t done, at least not by people with any sense of propriety

.“In this,” Wit said, “as in all things, our actions give us away. If an artist creates a work of powerful beauty—using new and innovative techniques—she will be lauded as a master, and will launch a new movement in aesthetics. Yet what if another, working independently with that exact level of skill, were to make the same accomplishments the very next month? Would she find similar acclaim? No. She’d be called derivative.

"Intellect. If a great thinker develops a new theory of mathematics, science, or philosophy, we will name him wise. We will sit at his feet and learn, and will record his name in history for thousands upon thousands to revere. But what if another man determines the same theory on his own, then delays in publishing his results by a mere week? Will he be remembered for his greatness? No. He will be forgotten.

“Invention. A woman builds a new design of great worth—some fabrial or feat of engineering. She will be known as an innovator. But if someone with the same talent creates the same design a year later—not realizing it has already been crafted—will she be rewarded for her creativity? No. She’ll be called a copier and a forger.”

He plucked at his strings, letting the melody continue, twisting, haunting, yet with a faint edge of mockery. “And so,” he said, “in the end, what must we determine? Is it the intellect of a genius that we revere? If it were their artistry, the beauty of their mind, would we not laud it regardless of whether we’d seen their product before?

“But we don’t. Given two works of artistic majesty, otherwise weighted equally, we will give greater acclaim to the one who did it first. It doesn’t matter what you create. It matters what you create before anyone else.“

So it’s not the beauty itself we admire. It’s not the force of intellect. It’s not invention, aesthetics, or capacity itself. The greatest talent that we think a man can have?” He plucked one final string. “Seems to me that it must be nothing more than novelty.”

Okay, I may be late to the party but is there anything on trooned out Gollum? The search function is always the last thing to go back to normal after a DDOS. I'm not getting any results searching his Twitter handle, applecorekatie or Katie Solomon.

Twitter recommended me a post from the account The Right Can't Meme, and while I was checking the replies I encountered this troon:

Like, the comic isn't even about transgenderism. How did he get the "This is how gender criticals treat trans kids." message from it?

Yeah, you can trust this person with your kids. What could possibly go wrong?
The first thing you see is this pinned post, telling people to block him if you are any of these things:

It's kind of funny that he hates Mengele, because he was the first person to insert a womb to a transwoman. The experiment was a failure, of course (And the troon in question died after surgery). But if he was still alive, I'm 100% sure that he and other troons would support him for being very transpositive.
It's also kind of funny that he supports the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, a institute that was filled with pedophiles like Magnus Hirschfeld (hence, Nazis burning everything related to them), while claiming to support "trans" kids.
Really makes you think.

I have vague memories of this troon being discussed on Twitter recently.

A couple of weeks ago a feminist got arrested and had her house searched by the police for putting up pro-feminist stickers and posters in Newport in the UK. The police warned the public not to try and take any down, cos they'd had "reports" of some of them having razor blades behind them.

A couple of years before that, a mental troon claimed on Twitter that they'd tried to take down a feminist poster and that there was a razor blade behind it that cut their hand. It was clearly bullshit, but it got some minor attention from the UK media. Said troon recently posted a photo of them with a train ticket saying they were off to Newport.

Someone looked through that troon's tweets and found that they had been accused of rape twice, but claimed that they had no knowledge of it cos they had multiple personalities, and if they were guilty, one of their other "personalities" must have done it. They said that one of their past victims was an elderly person who died before they could apologise. Once exposed, these tweets were all deleted, and the troon cried "muh transphobia!", as you would expect.

The troon I've mentioned above sometimes knocks about with the troon that you mentioned, so they both go around doing stickering campaigns and what not. They are undoubtedly both disgusting degenerates and if they are pedos/rapists/sex offenders I would not be surprised in the slightest.

I was curious what the Seventh-day Adventists said about trans people. Turns out it's pretty based. They make good biblical arguments why it's baloney. As you can see they draw from both the Old Testament and the New, because unlike most denominations Adventists don't believe the old Testament was abolished.

Yet, they also allow that it does happen and have compassion for the mentally ill. (Spoiler, it's because of sin)

Not bad for a fundamentalist church.

As the transgender phenomenon must be evaluated by Scripture, the following biblical principles and teachings may help the community of faith relate to people affected by gender dysphoria in a biblical and Christ-like way:

  1. God created humanity as two persons who are respectively identified as male and female in terms of gender. The Bible inextricably ties gender to biological sex (Gen 1:27; 2:22-24) and does not make a distinction between the two. The Word of God affirms complementarity as well as clear distinctions between male and female in creation. The Genesis creation account is foundational to all questions of human sexuality.
  2. From a biblical perspective, the human being is a psychosomatic unity. For example, Scripture repeatedly calls the entire human being a soul (Gen 2:7; Jer 13:17; 52:28-30; Ezek 18:4; Acts 2:41; 1 Cor 15:45), a body (Eph 5:28; Rom 12:1-2; Rev 18:13), flesh (1 Pet 1:24), and spirit (2 Tim 4:22; 1 John 4:1-3). Thus, the Bible does not endorse dualism in the sense of a separation between one’s body and one’s sense of sexuality. In addition, an immortal part of humans is not envisioned in Scripture because God alone possesses immortality (1 Tim 6:14-16) and will bestow it on those who believe in Him at the first resurrection (1 Cor 15:51-54). Thus, a human being is also meant to be an undivided sexual entity, and sexual identity cannot be independent from one’s body. According to Scripture, our gender identity, as designed by God, is determined by our biological sex at birth (Gen 1:27; 5:1-2; Ps 139:13-14; Mark 10:6).
  3. Scripture acknowledges, however, that due to the Fall (Gen 3:6-19) the whole human being — that is, our mental, physical, and spiritual faculties — are affected by sin (Jer 17:9; Rom 3:9; 7:14-23; 8:20-23; Gal 5:17) and need to be renewed by God (Rom 12:2). Our emotions, feelings, and perceptions are not fully reliable indicators of God’s designs, ideals, and truth (Prov 14:12; 16:25). We need guidance from God through Scripture to determine what is in our best interest and live according to His will (2 Tim 3:16).
  4. The fact that some individuals claim a gender identity incompatible with their biological sex reveals a serious dichotomy. This brokenness or distress, whether felt or not, is an expression of the damaging effects of sin on humans and may have a variety of causes. Although gender dysphoria is not intrinsically sinful, it may result in sinful choices. It is another indicator that, on a personal level, humans are involved in the great controversy.
  5. As long as transgender people are committed to ordering their lives according to the biblical teachings on sexuality and marriage they can be members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Bible clearly and consistently identifies any sexual activity outside of heterosexual marriage as sin (Matt 5:28, 31-32; 1 Tim 1:8-11; Heb 13:4). Alternative sexual lifestyles are sinful distortions of God’s good gift of sexuality (Rom 1:21-28; 1 Cor 6:9-10).
  6. Because the Bible regards humans as wholistic entities and does not differentiate between biological sex and gender identity, the Church strongly cautions transgender people against sex reassignment surgery and against marriage, if they have undergone such a procedure. From the biblical wholistic viewpoint of human nature, a full transition from one gender to another and the attainment of an integrated sexual identity cannot be expected in the case of sex reassignment surgery.
  7. The Bible commands followers of Christ to love everyone. Created in the image of God, they must be treated with dignity and respect. This includes transgender people. Acts of ridicule, abuse, or bullying towards transgender people are incompatible with the biblical commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31).
  8. The Church as the community of Jesus Christ is meant to be a refuge and place of hope, care, and understanding to all who are perplexed, suffering, struggling, and lonely, for “a bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench” (Matt 12:20). All people are invited to attend the Seventh-day Adventist Church and enjoy the fellowship of its believers. Those who are members can fully participate in church life as long as they embrace the message, mission, and values of the Church.
  9. The Bible proclaims the good news that sexual sins committed by heterosexuals, homosexuals, transgender people, or others can be forgiven, and lives can be transformed through faith in Jesus Christ (1 Cor 6:9-11).
  10. Those who experience incongruity between their biological sex and gender identity are encouraged to follow biblical principles in dealing with their distress. They are invited to reflect on God’s original plan of purity and sexual fidelity. Belonging to God, all are called to honor Him with their bodies and their lifestyle choices (1 Cor 6:19). With all believers, transgender people are encouraged to wait on God and are offered the fullness of divine compassion, peace, and grace in anticipation of Christ’s soon returnwhen all true followers of Christ will be completely restored to God’s ideal. As the transgender phenomenon must be evaluated by Scripture, the following biblical principles and teachings may help the community of faith relate to people affected by gender dysphoria in a biblical and Christ-like way:

TL;Dr: God hates trannies and coomers. He wouldn't use your pronouns, but church goers would to be polite.

I took a look at Kim's new songs and they are all genuinely terrible-repetitive but not catchy

Have a go at skipping ahead a random amount and chances are that you land on the same set of lyrics

Kim got done dirty with the cinematography and outfits

Screenshot_20220213-010757_YouTube.jpg

Screenshot_20220213-010811_YouTube.jpg

I get that the bad quality is probably on purpose but it just looks like found footage of a prostitute who was later found strangled behind a dumpster. A simple lyric video would be sufficient enough instead of a low budget video like that

At least Coconuts was catchy and Kim's earlier songs -whilst nothing revolutionary or special, were still better than this album

I know every woman pop singer goes thru the hyper sexualized phase at the behest of management but it seems a little late for Kim to do it, especially when the songs aren't catchy or evocative of 2000s.
The target demographic for a 2000s sound, would be for the people who were teens during the late 90s and early 00s, but Kim's actual fans are probably teens now so it doesn't make sense to me from a marketing standpoint

You can totally do songs that are supposed to heavily reference an era of music but if it doesn't feel authentic and nostalgic, then it has missed the mark, no?

vintage (well, a little) troonery!

filthy bedroom though. some things never change

-tbh this one is actually one of the few who are tormented by it from early childhood, who probably on balance get a net benefit from transing - hence why this is from 2007, before the influx of every fucker on the good ship Trans
