@borsabil "He won't take the loss of face"

This makes a lot of sense since he loves China. He wants to emulate "face culture."
Obviously, a consciousness of reputation is quite common in the West as well, especially among particular social groups. The difference in China may be that it’s frequently and openly discussed and that there is no real “brown-noser” stigma associated with actively pursuing improving one’s own standing and reputation the way there sometimes is in the West.
What a horrifying concept.

Because of the importance that’s placed on the maintenance of face, some of China’s most common and most cutting insults also revolve around the concept. “What a loss of face!” is a common exclamation from the crowd whenever someone is making a fool of themselves or doing something they shouldn’t, and if someone says that you don’t even want face (不要脸), then you know that they have a very low opinion of you indeed.
Maybe people should start tweeting at him "Oh Justin, what a loss of face you have suffered by enacting war measures act!" Resort to Chinese insults, maybe they will hit harder?

Wtf you guys this whole thread I thought the Mayor Ford everyone's been talking about was that Mayor Ford with the sex and crack smoking scandal a few years ago, who said something like, "That woman claimed I ate her pussy, I never ate her pussy, I have more than enough to eat at home." But apparently that's his brother? There's two bumbling dumbass Fords entrusted with major Canadian cities?

But no. My research suggests there are FOUR?! These brothers, their dad, and now their very young nephew (whose dad is in prison for murder?) are all part of some kind of fat, red-faced political dynasty?

Canada, why do you keep voting for these guys? Even before you get to their soap operatic personal disasters, just the sheer amount of sweat is impossible to get past, the whole family looks like the result of crossbreeding a hog with a glazed doughnut

Hey, he didn't use tax payer money and smoked that rock with those Jamaicans on his own time!

One Ford is premier, not mayor. He leads the province, not the city. Mayor Ford, the crack-smoking guy, died. Aren't crack-smoking mayors of major cities a proud North American tradition? We just wanted to participate . . .

Seriously, I'd trade my city's last couple of mayors for Doug or Rob Ford. Or their nephew, their dad, possibly the prison guy, or an actual hog cross-bred with a glazed doughnut.

Nah. Rob Ford, arguably the best of them. 11 / 10 mayor. Would smoke rocks with.

RCMP on the hunt for wrongthink among their ranks.

Details on the suspicious arrests in Coutts, including names. (Archive)

The arrests began after RCMP tactical officers raided two camper trailers and a mobile home on 1st Avenue North in Coutts shortly after midnight on Monday.

Chris Carbert, 44; Christopher Lysak, 48; Anthony Olienick, 39; and Jerry Morin, 40, are charged with possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose and mischief over $5,000, in addition to the conspiracy to commit murder charges. Mr. Lysak faces an additional charge of uttering threats.

Six more men – Luke Berk, 62; Johnson Law, 39; Evan Colenutt, 23; Justin Martin, 22; Eastin Stewart Oler, 22; and Janx Zaremba, 18 – and three women – Joanne Person, 62; Jaclyne Martin, 39; and Ursula Allred, 22 – are also charged with mischief and unlawful weapons offences in relation to the blockade.

If anyone's got Zuccbook, this sounds like something interesting to find and archive:

On the night of the raid, an account with the same name as Ms. Person wrote on Facebook that RCMP officers were on her property.

“The full tactical is at my home and they are [telling] us to leave the home and that they are entering. My god. Please help us,” she wrote Monday morning at 12:21 a.m. She later wrote that she needed a lawyer. “There is swat and tactical [surrounding] my yard,” she wrote three minutes later.

The four with the brightest bioluminescence didn't appear in person in court due to quarantine.

Dealing with the charges at Lethbridge Provincial Court on Tuesday, court heard the individuals were in quarantine, and therefore could not appear by video-link as their matters were dealt with. Given the circumstances, their appearances were waived by both the defence and Crown.

The four men facing the conspiracy to commit murder charges were remanded in custody for bail hearings, and are currently slated to be back in court on Friday. Mr. Colenutt was also remanded in custody until Friday, pending a bail hearing.

The other eight accused, who live in Red Deer, Calgary, Coutts and Turner Valley, were all released with the consent of the Crown under a number of conditions, including having no contact with their co-accused, not being in or near public protests, and having no weapons or firearms. Their charges were all adjourned until March 15.

Claims these guys were affiliated with some terminally-online nutjob glowtard, but the article doesn't say who. Anyone recognize the patches they reference on the body armor? That might reveal who it is. If it turns out to be the dumbshit "Canada First" groyper (the guy with the partially-obscured hat in some photos that looked like it read "ANAL FIRST") who got run off in Ottawa on the same day the retards with the swastika were conveniently photographed I posted about ages ago, that is going to be one hell of an interesting coincidence.

RCMP say possible ties to larger extremist groups remain under investigation, and that more charges are possible, related both to the group and to other illegal activity at the border blockade.

Social-media posts by several of the individuals reflect anti-vaccination, anti-mask, conspiracy and anti-government sentiment. Body armour seized by RCMP in the raid includes patches identified with conspiracy and far-right movements.

On social media, Mr. Carbert and Mr. Lysak have both interacted with posts by a man described by the Canadian Anti-Hate Network as the leader of a radical far-right movement that wants to bring about the dissolution of Canada, and the formation of a new country.

Mr. Carbert, one of the accused charged with conspiracy to commit murder against the RCMP, posted often about conspiracy theories, and expressed a willingness to die for those beliefs.

”I will die fighting for what I believe is right and I mean this,” Mr. Carbert wrote in October.

Has there been any news between now and my last post or is it all shitty ‘opinion’ and ‘debate’ from a bunch of people who weren’t in this thread a week ago?
Not much right now, we're all effectively waiting to see just what Junior does beyond all the ridiculous "emergency" finance legislation. National Post gives a pretty good overview of what could be seen in the near future though:

OTTAWA — Bringing children to the antigovernment blockades that have immobilized downtown Ottawa and shuttered border crossings is among the activities that could net protesters a fine of up to $5,000 or five years in prison while Canada is under the national Emergencies Act.

The same punishment would apply to anyone violating any of the new rules, such as participating in the protests directly, or bringing aid such as food or fuel to those involved, according to regulations published Tuesday night that spell out the temporary but extraordinary powers that flow through the act.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the act on Monday for the first time in Canadian history.

Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino said at a news conference Tuesday in Ottawa that the blockades are “driven by an ideology to overthrow the government” and there are elements within them that pose a serious threat to safety.

He pointed to the seizure Monday of multiple weapons and the arrest of 13 individuals at the blockade near the border in Coutts, Alta. Mendicino said that should be a wake-up call to Canadians about “what it is that we are precisely dealing with here.”

Details of the regulations contained in two cabinet orders were published Tuesday night, hours after officials from the Justice and Finance Departments, as well as the RCMP, provided a technical briefing to the media on the condition they not be named.

Ottawa police have said repeatedly the presence of children was making it difficult for officers to enforce the law, fearing any clashes with protesters could put the kids at risk. Last week, police said they believed about 100 children were living in trucks and RVs around Parliament Hill. The new rules prohibit anyone from even causing a minor to travel within 500 metres of where an assembly deemed to be unlawful is taking place. There are exemptions for those who live or work in the area or are there for other reasons besides taking part in a protest.

The regulations also list the places blockades are not allowed, including Parliament Hill and the streets around it known as the parliamentary precinct where many federal buildings are found. Hundreds of vehicles have blocked roads there for more than two weeks.

Official residences, such as Rideau Hall, and government and defence buildings are on the list. So are war monuments, such as the National War Memorial in downtown Ottawa that was desecrated the first weekend convoy protesters started occupying the streets.

They also apply to airports, harbours, border crossings, piers, lighthouses, canals, interprovincial and international bridges, hospitals and COVID-19 vaccine clinics, trade corridors and infrastructure needed for the supply of utilities including power generation and transmission.

An order on emergency economic measures gives special powers to police, banks and insurance companies to freeze accounts and cancel vehicle insurance belonging to people participating in what the orders deem to be “illegal assemblies.”

Towing companies are being designated as essential and must either help police remove vehicles from the blockades when asked, or police could seize their tow trucks to remove the vehicles themselves. The order says anyone asked to provide essential goods and services through the Emergencies Act will be compensated at market prices.

Police in Ottawa and Windsor, Ont., say towing operators refused their requests, fearing reprisals from trucking companies that provide a lot of their business. Windsor police turned to American towing companies to remove vehicles from the Ambassador Bridge border crossing on the weekend.

The cabinet order invoking the Emergencies Act was published Tuesday morning. It says the government needs temporary but extraordinary powers to end blockades because they are threatening Canada’s supply chains, economic security and trading relationships in a bid to achieve political or ideological goals.

That order, and the ones that identify and describe the new but temporary powers, are now in effect but must all be confirmed by motions to be put to both the House of Commons and the Senate for a vote.

The government could take until next week to table the motion invoking the act itself, but has only until Thursday to do so for the motions on the specific powers being enacted.

They will remain in place for 30 days unless the government revokes them sooner.

Considering both Coutts and Emerson are now clear (or soon to be clear) of protestors it's making what tenuous excuse existed for this act's invocation even less applicable and these bullshit measures all the more asinine. I'd like to think the NDP will see the writing on the wall during the required vote over this next week, but Singh has always had a passion for sucking Liberal dick.

"I'd like to think the NDP will see the writing on the wall during the required vote over this next week, but Singh has always had a passion for sucking Liberal dick."

That's where I'm at.

I think the best use of Canadian's time is speaking to anyone on the NDPs side and making headway there.

I never thought I'd say that considering how pozzed the NDP has been, but if they play their cards right they can come out of this with the die hard Left on their side coming out of the disillusioned Liberal Party and still maintain the soul/heart of their insane SJW Racial Marxism beliefs.

I can feel it in the air. The NDP is going to switch. People can feel Trudeau's desperation.

That stupid yokel that can't live under current conditions without cityslickers subsidizing it.
I noticed that anytime someone tries to quiz you on what would happen to major cities if they lost their logistics, you just default to this same retarded response.

>"If the system fell apart, urbanites would eat each other"
>"BUT FARMERS CAN'T SUPPORT THEMSELVES FINANCIALLY"
