Speaking of @NasserRabadi13: For those that don't already know, Jon Del Arroz's latest comic will have a panel where Nasser gets kicked in the balls by a Japanese schoolgirl. Art by The Quaff.

I support the kicking of Nasser whenever practicable. Use of Japanese schoolgirls is optional.

It looks more like he's pleasuring himself with the girl's shoe and she's trying to get out of the situation without tipping over.

Some speed lines to her leg might help, and most guys in this situation aren't able to grab at their crotch until the kick has already happened. But IANA comic book.

TL;DR: The Quaff is shit. Practise moar.

The obvious question to ask here is: Is that a better or worse depiction of Nasser? 🤣

Look man, I grade on a curve. Because, 1) I'm a nice guy. 2) When you get right down to it, I don't think anybody in CG is really what could be termed a "professional artist."

I did the same thing with Vic King. Dude is bound to do a better Lightbringer than Linkara.

It's cute. Not great. But cute. I can see where he got his inspiration. This will sell because "LOL weebs."

The fuck is up with that girl's arm? The fuck is anatomy, anyhow? /sarcasm

No seriously, how hard is it to know that a woman's elbow meets where their ribs end and their hands meet 1/3rd-1/4th way their thighs?

They expect weebs to buy this shit, weebs scrutinize the fuck out of home grown shit more as a kind of QA to not get ripped off and to know who is a posturing dipshit. Even I give credit for that.

Vics art has problems, beyond what @I Love Beef said, but that image shows promise. He fudges the inking and perspective but he's getting there. But Vic, learn hands.

But if Vic is miles behind a professional artist, he's miles ahead of Quaff. That one panel looks like an example of what I've seen for years: a crude scrawl by some weeby american who thinks all it takes to be a proper mangaka is to look at some manga and ensure you draw big eyes and D shaped mouths on everything. I could write out an autistic list of every nitpick I have with that art but it would be easier to list what's good about it.

GOOD THINGS IN QUAFFS PANEL

1: It shows Nasser getting kicked in the balls.
2: Quaff knows where to find the radiating lines tool in Manga Studio.
3: That's it.

Quaff, learn everything.

When you get right down to it, I don't think anybody in CG is really what could be termed a "professional artist."

I don't know if comparing Quaff to CG in general is a defence of Quaff or an indictment of CG. 🧐

All the more reason to mock the scrubs until they git gud.

I don't understand why you'd bother wasting your time with Donal when you can just take the Brutas 2 script, change the names around and make a new IP.
Because there's an audience for Brutas. It's proven that there's an audience and people like it. There's an audience for Donal comics as well.

And most likely I'm not gonna find a better artist than Donal.

I'd rather bury the hatchet than start all over again. And this is good for CG as well for everyone to get along.
but you've just got jokes for days and days
Geez dude, it was one joke

And yeah for everyone asking, we do have a contract. And I'm gonna be the one handling the second campaign.

Everything is up on palettes.
Legally it has to be.
From Donal to me just now:

Nasser & I worked our shit out & we're doing book 2 for the customers that deserve a proper sequel.

Gay ops.

*UPDATE*
Looks like Jeff Hicks came through in the end and got Wokebusters past 20k. I wonder how he raised so much money so fast, it was just barely over 12k...

Wokebusters update: Shortly after the campaign went into InDemand after hitting its $20,000 goal, Wokebusters had 4 refunds totalling $5400.

Frosk and G4?

Um. Yeah. The problem here is anyone paying any attention to either of those things at all. People are arguing over a nobody on a cable TV channel that nobody will watch. I dont
know why G4 is back, but its certainly not worth noticing that it is back. At least in public. I think between comicsgate and the fandom menace, you have given them free advertising
that is worth more than their entire promotional budget for the next five years. You have certainly done wonders for their brand recognition.

Please. Just let G4 die (again) in the obscurity it deserves.

Something very odd is going on here. The number of backers dropped from 248 to 241 at the close of the campaign (after chargebacks I presume). The total number of backers has since risen to 244.

The problem is that the number of items purchased by backers has changed very little and in some cases has increased. There is nothing here that accounts for the sudden absence of $5400. What was this money being used to purchase? Because it doesn't seem like it was being used to buy Wokebusters books or paraphernalia. The figures don't balance.

I scrolled through the closing-out stream for Wokebusters. The last on-screen appearance of the campaign total I can find is around the 5 hour 26 minute mark (in a 6 hour 5 minute stream). It's $13004. Two and a half hours earlier (roughly 2 hours and 56 minutes in) the total appears to have been $12281.

So what happened in those final 40 minutes? Because there is no enthusiasm among the streamers that would indicate a last minute rush of support. In fact the stream kind-of peters out. Did Jeff go somewhere else afterwards where he was able to drum-up more support than on his home channel?

An insider contributed enough to push them over the funding goal and then refunding? Probably a violation of the TOS but it seems to be ensuring the project gets made instead of canceled so not really shady if it does eventually get delivered.

Both, I guess.

I mean, I'm serious when I say no artwork from CG has really blown my skirt up. I don't think Quaff is great, but I don't think he's hideous either. I've found most CG artwork to be middling. I backed Shotgun Samurai purely over the absurdity of the concept.

I'd hold up Kamen America as good faux-manga style, but that ain't CG, so they don't get credit.

Ody's work in Xenotype wasn't bad either, but that became a Greek tragedy (har har).

They expect weebs to buy this shit, weebs scrutinize the fuck out of home grown shit more as a kind of QA to not get ripped off and to know who is a posturing dipshit. Even I give credit for that.
No, they'll do it. Some of them anyways. JDA was shrewd to do this, if I'm being perfectly honest. JDA's right-of-center writing synergized with Quaff's manga-esque style will find a market among the MAGApede weebs (of which there are many) who aren't super-picky.

You don't have to like it. I'm just saying.

Color me surprised.

Frog's illogical PTSD over Snyder's appearance on G&G is causing him to make the ridiculous connections to the Frostkaren situation. There were a few major elements that contributed to the tragedy of the Deepest Snyder Cut.

1: Frostkaren's status as an obscure G4 co-host gone modestly viral in recent weeks doesn't begin to compare to Snyder's status as a Hollywood film director with a respectable amount of box office in his career. There was a huge hype build-up for it.
2: It was a hugbox charity stream set up exclusively to cheerlead for the Snyderverse and for Snyder himself more or less. This is far different from having a debate where the parties involved are there to have an argument in varying degrees of civility.
3: The utter cowing under Snyder's astonishing heel turn was what really did the most to castrate the G&G brand. Hamblurber is already reknowned for kowtowing and going soft... that's his brand.

For the sake of argument, let's say that only Frostkaren is the lolcow here, why not give her an opportunity to embarrass herself even further? What was so hilarious to begin with is that she was acting as though the Elgeebeeteesleeze care about ugly homosexual gamers. You gotta be a lipstick lesbian or a minority if you want the sweet sweet nectar of the SJW gods. If you're a lolcow, your nectar shall be kino. No matter how badly Quaturdling could bumble it (short of his pissdrunk mode), nothing out of this could ever elevate her brand. Sciverfrog hates it mostly because the spotlight isn't on him.

Thank you. Quaff knows he's not professional professional. He's got a full day job doing this on the side, and he's getting better as he goes along to the best of his ability. I love pages like this, reminds me of great stuff like Fushigi Yuugi, and that's why we did the book. It's fun. And I made more in 30 days on a manga parody of my other book than Liam can make on his gay boy island campaign in 7+ months. El Oh El.

And Liam -- stop reporting my campaign to IndieGoGo, faggot.

You know they have people in Japan at your price point?

I mean I need to go buy this so I can make a qualified comment on this....knowing your work I could see how this art tone might be the right sweet spot but I think you could have gotten better art (not saying this is bad but...I think you could have gotten better for your story)

Business-sense wise JDA/Quaff's manga makes sense for a lot reasons - it capitalizes on the the sudden surge in Jon's platform (normally, to his credit, he likes to have months of work on the comic in the can before launching a campaign) and allows both parties to sell back issues of Deus Vult and Shotgun Samurai (both having very good reasons for wanting to boost sales of already created material).

Most importantly, it throws Quaff a lifeline from repeating what happened with Ciderhype with a much needed infusion of cash after Shotgun Samurai's underwhelming $12,000 take for 5 years of off and on work drawing 200 pages and a year of campaigning under the questionable guidance of talent agent Testefy-HD.

Thematically though it still makes no sense to me, because the overlap between the target audience for 1970s Ditko/Buscema tributes like Jesse White-drawn Deus Vult and the audience for teenage isekai manga (I'd imagine) is zero.
