If they didn't have Nemmie in a child seat, it's frankly shocking that he's still alive judging by the photos.

Jill, of course, only really cared about her narc fuel. And blamed a drunk driver for the entire situation, which she SEVERELY minimized.

Hospitals do have parenting classes where they teach you how to install a carseat properly but Nurie never went to the hospital for anything including birth.

Car seat safety is taken for granted by most people as a no brainer, but given their upbringing, (being in near isolation from the world with zero formal education) and Nurie's total lack of prenatal care, it's possible both she and Nathan legit don't get it. Hospitals are required to do a car seat overview and safety check before infants go home where I'm from, but who knows what standards backwards birthing centers have. I hope this is an opportunity for someone in the system to tell them what is up and they actually accept the support/education.

I think it probably is ignorance for the most part. They definitely didn't take classes and Jill doesn't use car seats and enforce seat belts herself.

What's horrifying is that fundies are often careless because they take for granted that they're god's chosen and he will protect them. They don't mean it in just the sense of helping them with things like discernment and spiritual strength to fight against sin and temptation. They literally feel god is watching over each of them and will not let bad things happen to them because they're so righteous, therefore they don't take reasonable precautions (like seat belts and car seats all of the time).

I'd imagine being a third gen fundie Nurie would be absolutely steeped in this thinking to the point that it's subconscious because she was never taught she was really in any danger in the first place. Thank goodness they're all safe, especially little Nemmy,
