Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

It’s the voices for the Rescue Rangers movie than anything that pisses me off about the movie. Like if you care so little about this franchise that you’re throwing together a shitty “meta” film made this cheaply, why pay for celebrity voices? Just uses that actual voice actors, fucking hell.

Animation writers in particular deserve to be better paid and get royalties. If most people knew the truth about that it would shock them.
Oh but they get paid in exposure right? And everyone knows you can take a handful of exposure to your landlord and he'll accept it in lieu of money rent.

Didn't they at least bring back Tress MacNeille and Corey Burton?

thats hollywood for you. they dont think a movie will work if there arent famous people in it

Danny technically owns the rights which is a fucking gigachad move.
Yeah on top of already making arguably the best CN show ever the guy was able to claim ownership over his property and the only one not get fucked by A huge company, Guy really is a king amongst cartoonists.

Somehow this caused Pixar/disney fans to lose their collective mind on twitter

To be the devils advocate, the autist also insulted the people working on the movie and said everyone involved should feel bad which is absolutely r.etarded. That's not criticism, that's just being an asshole. The art style isn't the decision of fucking everyone.

This tard deserves the equally r.etarded clowns he summoned. You reap what you sow.

Skydance's second animated film has been announced, which is a project called Ray Gunn. After looking around on this subject. Brad Bird tried pitching this particular animated film during the 90s, almost got made by Turner Animation but went nowhere. Now its being brought back through Skydance. While I am curious where this could go. I can't shake the feeling that someone else would've been more able to pick up this project.

You had me at Brad Bird. Dude is one of the few animation directors out there today who knows his shit (The Iron Giant, Ratatouille, The Incredibles 1 + 2), and the fact that he's teaming up with Lasseter again makes me cautiously optimistic.

I know someone who wanted to see this become a reality, the moment I told him the news and who was making it. He told me something on the lines of 'I'm not supporting a studio that has someone with a fucked up background who got promoted as CEO rather than blacklisted'.

His loss, lol. I dunno, if Lasseter really was as bad as they said he was, I'd assume he'd get the Chris Savino/John K. treatment. The fact that he didn't, and instead got promoted as CEO of another animation studio, really makes you wonder if those broads at Pixar were telling the truth, or if they were just jumping onto the #MeToo bandwagon.

I am actually a bit curious about this since neo noir isn't a topic that is often done through animation. Done a lot through video games though. I would like to see a trailer for this since it does sound promising. As for Lassester's behavior. Something did come off towards him, but weirdly enough. I think everyone was just pointing fingers at him because of the #Metoo stuff. What are the odds the women were telling the truth?

I'm relived that the boondocks reboot got cancelled. It wouldn’t have been the same without John Witherpsoon. The Boondocks is a masterpiece that shouldn't be reckoned with. The fourth season wasn't that great, we don't need a reboot. I'm fine with watching the 50 something episodes we already have of the original series.
I get where your coming from but I’m honestly kinda disappointed we won’t be getting it. The Boondocks was a important and fantastic show and pushed huge boundaries for African-American animation and satire for it’s time. Considering how the modern world has pretty much turned into the cartoon satire the show was set in, I’d absolutely love to have seen how the show rips into the Trump era and all the woke,SJW culture of the 2010s. It has the potential to be brilliant. There’s so much comedy to be milked from today’s current clown world.

I never really pay attention to the Lasseter stuff. Was there any actual hard core evidence? I notice that pixar movies started to suck after he left.

A lot of the stuff was true. Did you see the Tumblr from about 10 years ago that someone at Pixar did making fun of him?

He's not John K.-level bad but he probably should not be working with women.

It was true, it’s just that what he was “guilty” of was being creepy, overly touchy and not having a sense of boundaries. He probably shouldn’t be working around women, but he’s hardly a sexual predator.

Yeah I guess you’re right. Society has changed so much since the original show ended. It would’ve been nice to see an episode of the Boondocks reboot where Huey talks about the vaccine and the pandemic.

Lasseter owned up to the shit he did and with any luck got help for it. He's a far cry from the usual suspects crying about cancel culture.
I would hope he did, but if he's genuinely trying to be a better person, I haven't heard so far.

On another note, I found this in a Facebook group. This is a delight:
