What you're both missing it the "who". Maybe some of the people currently protesting (and had their lives ruined) will take their fight to the next level, but for any meaningful resistance you need to have a large percentage of the population not only supporting, but actively helping. Most people won't do it since they have their livelihood, family, friends and money to lose. If anything I think you'll have far more people actively going against the resistance for social points, especially since I doubt anyone in the west will execute a traitor to give an example.

The most likely outcome is that nothing happens. Protestors will be cuffed and booked, and their children will be processed separately. However, things could get ugly, and if they do then there's no excuse for the parents who brought their kids. Also, using children to cause problems for police is nothing short of spineless faggotry.
