Replying really late, but I really don't understand this reaction. Maybe I'm made of unusual stuff but this doesn't nearly make me lose hope.
Humans either live under tyranny or a government that doesn't have enough power to be the tyranny it wants to be.
This is normal in history. Don't get blackpilled. Get motivated. Do (a peaceful) something. Movements are not fueled by great actions, they're fueled by an aggregation of small ones.

Unless your police force is completely private, they're going to fuck you over if the state ever tells them to.

I don't live in a city either, but my towns police force is just as corrupt and full of assholes just like any other. Just like every towns police force. I'm glad you're friends with them and all, but don't for a second think they'd ever put you over their pension if it came down to it.

Run for sheriff and get your homies deputized. It's a an elected position that comes with pay and an MRAP. a country that falls apart is sad, so be happy in your military surplus personnel transport. All cops are for pay, so don't think for a second a rent a goon won't blow your brains out if he thinks he can get away with it like a sworn duty goon

The only goon I trust to protect myself is myself, believe me.

That being said, the goon YOU pay is always going to preferable to the goon the state pays. At the end of the day though you should only rely on yourself for your own protection.
