I appreciate this post. I’ve been skeptical about most of the things you listed above so I’ve structured my life to reduce exposure to most of these risks.

I always took one thing for granted about Canada: stable, well-run banks run by boring adults. So I actually appreciate this mask dropping so I can plan accordingly. What a pain though.

That tyranny could pop up so easily is a shock. In my mind it was going to take more than some honking for a minority government to act like this.

But parliamentary systems are very vulnerable right after elections. Usually none of the parties have the funds or appetite for another writ drop so boundaries can get pushed.
