It was basically a form of psychological torture along the lines of gaslighting, but it worked on several different levels. Apart from getting people to question their own sanity, it got other people to question their sanity. And even when they worked out that the shit was happening for real (homes broken in to and clocks having their time changed, certain items always put in a different place to where they were left, etc. etc.), the feelings of violation and helplessness that it instilled totally broke some people as their impotence was rubbed in their noses.
Who would believe an entire regime would have a department and people trained to do such 'psyops'? If you had that done to you on a regular basis, or say maybe a loved one had it done to them and they ended up comitting suicide, you would be more than a little bitter about it, and if it didn't break you, you might be well able to commit ultraviolence should you ever get the chance. It's not unusual for victims of psychological abuse to say that they would have preferred to have been physically beaten, sometimes even sexually abused, as that would provide tangible defining parameters. But head games and 'psyops' can really fuck you up over a period of time.

More than ever this war we are all fighting is the 'next' war. Most people don't even realise they are in a war. We are fighting in a field for people's hearts and minds. For their approval, their disgust; for their hatred and their anger, for their forgiveness and for their love. The human mind and people's motivations have been studied in great depth for many years, and even if psychology is not a hard science, we all have a pretty good idea of what makes most people tick. Most people aren't that different when it really comes down to it.
Shunning and social disapproval was mentioned earlier; feeling part of something bigger than yourself or belonging to a group feels good man! Fear can motivate, greed can motivate. Different things work better on some people than others depending on their individual make up, but no one likes being punched centre mass in the nose. Most people don't even like the threat of it.
It's been easy for us to say that the truckers should have martyred themselves more. But more than any other group in recent times they have stood up to the BS and sent a clear message out: We really are getting tired of you fucking with us. More than that, they have both given us all the biggest white pill whilst commiting the greatest crime of all in the eyes of the powers that see: raising morale amongst the demoralised, giving hope to those that had lost but all semblance of it. Of course they will be taught a lesson. This is just the start of it. That is why the non-violence approach is the right one to take right now.
Because it's not about winning a physical fight, it's about winning the hearts and minds of those that have not fully woken up yet. They are the greatest mass of all people. The commie lefty faggots are a lost cause, but they only make up a minority themselves. The largest proportion of people are just indifferent, no matter what they say or no matter what their particular ideology or politics is. When those people are won over, then real change can begin to take place. It's why the government and police and media are lying about the protesters, saying they were 'asking for it'.

Is there any way to verify if those names are people who at least exist and are employed as Canadian cops? That would give it a lot more credibility. (Not saying it's fake, just trying to figure out how to determine it either way.)

No idea if you have Telegram but the group who leaked the information linked some names to numbers.

This kind of shit is one of the reasons why I question whether or not journalism should even be tolerated anymore. There are so many just random people streaming that it's impossible to even count them all, and other than the occasional interruption to talk about their chat messages, it's mostly just pure, raw, unadulterated information. Even aside from streamers, vs faggot with a film crew, journos fall way short when it comes to information gathering as was seen in the Waukesha attack reporting, where randos on the internet had produced an overwhelming amount of information before the journos had even been made aware of the attack. I mean, it's easy to hate on cops but also, living my entire life in NYC, I've had tons of great interactions with them where they have repeatedly let me go for shit when they could have nailed me. I've been caught speeding, going down one way streets the wrong way, blowing red lights, one time I blew a red light AND I forgot my license! I thought I was fucked and all of those times they were super chill and let me go. One time my mother fell for a scam and ran to the pharmacy to get debit cards thinking I was arrested (it's a common scam apparently to do to elderly people) and I managed to get in touch with her while she was in the pharmacy and convince her I wasn't arrested. Then I called the precinct and two cops went to the pharmacy, got my mother for me, held her at the precinct while they regaled her with tales of how often this scam has happened and how many times it went badly for the poor people and how she was lucky, and when I got there they walked her out to my car for me.
Hell, one time I got caught banging a chick in my car by the cops when I was maybe 21 and instead of hassling me the cop asked my girlfriend just for safety if she was OK and wanted to be there. When she said yes, he then shined his flashlight on me and told me, "Stop being such a cheap bastard and get a hotel room for her next time!" and then went back to his car and left.
I mean, maybe it's just NYC, but I've had far more good interactions with the cops here than not.
