Hahahahaha- that'll be a no from me, sir.

:story:

...and her fat, lazy ass was proud enough of spending half of her weekly ranch budget on it to put her name to such a munificent donation. This made my night. Just- *chef's kiss*
Kelly quite literally spent more on tandoori chicken tonight than she did for the dying father of someone she admires

This bit from the GoFundMe stands out:

"Once Steve has completed 16 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation, the hope is that the mass in his pancreas will shrink and be operable. He'll then undergo surgery to remove the mass, if the surgeon deems it will have a positive outcome (apparently pancreas's are very tricky!)."

He's fucked. If they're having to try neoadjuvant chemotherapy just to get him resectable, I question how "early" it was caught. I could sperg about this, but basically, in order to be considered resectable, a pancreatic adenocarcinoma has to be pretty small. It can't even be pressing the superior mesenteric or portal veins, never mind actually invading.

Edited again to say that the vast majority of patients with a resectable tumor still end up having positive regional nodes and/or micrometastases, both of which portend recurrence and poor prognosis. Even in cases in which the mass is limited to the head of the pancreas, 5 year OS is still under 20 percent.

What if Big Whit is gearing up to be a “celebrity” guest at Corissa’s fat camp? That would be the ultimate crossover episode -Big Whit, C&J, AND Kelly all attending the same event. My Big Fat Fabulous Life has somehow actually been renewed for another season (I’m guessing the massive number of hate watchers has kept it afloat.) TLC has filmed several of whit’s fat fuck retreats, conferences, etc. for the show before. Imagine if the trash tv gods bestowed us with extensive fat camp footage.

I know it’s probably a pipe dream, but seeing that $1k donation made me think they might be collaborating on something.

If I was a betting man I'd definitely say the odds of him being dead by the end of the year are almost certain. and the smartest thing they could all do now is make sure his affairs are in-order there's nothing that amplifies greif more than mountain's of bureaucratic bullshit.

I'm putting in he won't make it through the summer. And that's being overly optimistic. I remember being shocked at how long Alex Trebek lasted considering most people with pancreatic cancer I knew were dead very soon after diagnosis. (Being a beloved celeb with fuck you money probably helped, but still.) If they haven't started burial/cremation plans then they need to do it now. I don't know how much debt the dad is in but if any of it is also in the mom's name or could go to his estate, then they need to take care of it now. I wouldn't be surprised if Coco and Juliana fuck this shit up like they are doing to their house, but it's very serious stuff. JULIANA better be helping her mom with this shit the best she can. Cancer is one of the most stressful and devastating things for a person and their social network to go through.

Yeah, I don't understand why they claim they caught it early when they clearly didn't - maybe to get more GFM money by offering hope?
After the claim that it was caught early, there is a description of how this poor man is already physically weak, has no appetite, cannot drive anymore and can't perform many basic tasks anymore. That's not catching anything early.

This is a very sad story, made even sadder by the fact that J probably won't use her father's illness to turn her own health around.

They also could be ignorant enough to think Stage II/III means early just because it's non-metastatic... regardless fucking sucks to be Steve.

Alex Trebek had a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, not an adenocarcinoma. Prognosis for PanNETs is significantly better than for PDAC. Steve Jobs also had a PanNET, which is why he survived as long as he did despite doing fuck all to treat it.

Even stage I adenocarcinoma of the pancreas has a poor prognosis. Most patients who are deemed resectable still don't survive long enough to complete chemotherapy.

Somehow don't see J or Corissa being any help. They are too unwell and too lazy. J has been happily spending the day posting shit like this:

Ah yes, the fragile masculinity of men dying of terminal illness. Real classy to post that rn J. It's not like you have any men in your life other than your biological father.

He’s not even her biological dad. This isn’t a guy who pumped and dumped into J’s mom, this is a guy who saw J, fat as she could be as a kid, and said, “I agree to parent this kid, even though we share no blood relation and she is an obvious mess.” Putting down shit bio dads is one conversation, but man, I wish we’d talk about the amazing sacrifice some men make for the sake of their stepchildren. J has no respect for him and it makes me mati, if I must admit.

That would be amazeeen. I've only watched My Big fat Fabulous Life intermittently but from what I've seen Thore breaks down and cries at the least little exertion. I remember how badly she struggled to walk a single mile. I mean, sure, the trail was uneven and had...short slopes, but...it's a mile. If she showed up at fatty camp it would be exactly like what someone mentioned upthread about fatties posing for "active"-looking photos and then walrus-flopping back on reinforced lounge chairs to eat by the pool.

That said I am sorry for J's father. I can only begin to imagine how sad and frightening this is for him. If he's close to J, I hope he'll get the best quality time in with her that he can manage under the circumstances. Obviously she doesn't have the best coping skills with normal life but they're still human and have a relationship that's developed outside of the public eye and between the cracks of all of J's most abstruse, defensive ratiocinations about gender theory so hopefully they'll have some quality time together.

God, all of this is making me SATI. (:_(:heart-empty: her ridiculous gender bullshit aside, JULIANNA's dad sounds like a decent guy even if he wasn't always father of the year. He was there for her when he didn't have to, and when her bio dad wasn't. I hope her fat ass goes to hell if she doesn't at least somewhat reciprocate. I can't even begin to imagine watching my parent or someone I cared about going through that, and not doing anything, anything at all in my physical power, to help them and be there for them. Fuck, I wouldn't let a pet go through that alone.

If she fails to be there for her dad at his life's end, I will personally cheer for the day they get the ramp installed down into her concrete-lined purgatory in the root cellar. Long may she molder away in it.

I don't get the masculinity one- isn't J trans masculine ???

Once again Juliana has expressed herself in an overtly teenage girly way- passive aggressive clap back over a floral background? MASCULINE

[Also the parent/dad talk is legitimately wholesome, hearing perspectives. It's like when kiwis talked about Jude's mum and reflected on their own mothers, maybe their elder years or passing. ]
Ok I'm going to go back to mocking JULIANA and her baglady girlfriend now

Yeah, me too. Rate me gay if you want, but even from that photo alone, you can tell Steve is one of those utterly decent guys. In a hospital bed, probably in a lot of pain, and still grinning away over a Jello cup.

I think we have all had friends' dads (or maybe even our own) who were that kind of easygoing, soft-spoken, uncomplaining guy who would be willing to take on parenting someone else's kid or grin for a photo after being given a terminal diagnosis.

That GFM is fucking horrifying. They didn't catch that shit early. I truly hope they don't try to go through several procedures when this is clearly a terminal situation.

Powerlevel, but someone close to me was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer with bone mets and lasted nearly two years - palliative care was discussed several times and he never wanted to take it. By the time it was finally ending, he was a ghost of his former self, completely reliant on other people for basic care, and absolutely miserable when he was aware (which, thankfully, wasn't often). It feels awful to say, but he should have taken the palliative care the first time it was offered and passed with comfort and dignity, not chased after treatments that doctors told him would just extend it, not cure it. I hope there's someone in J's dad's life that can get that through to him.
