Canadian Truckers Convoy 2022 - The Leaf calls you a Nazi as he gasses you

The irony is delicious. Now I want a lefty local to vocally complain about this.
I'm not even sure it's worthwhile. NDP's main criticism of Trudeau is that he isn't communist enough.

The plea is eloquent but sadly it falls on deaf ears.
For what it's worth, that 30 years comment is powerful, nobody knows it just yet. The NDP will have to live with the consequences of their actions regardless of the outcome of the Emergencies Act motion. No political entity is immune to the wilderness years.

Anyone can help me out getting around the issue that I will not join Twitter to read replies? Do I make a burner account or is there a go around?
If you're on mobile, just click 'Log In' then hit the 'X' to close the login window. That let's me keep scrolling for a while, and is easier than clearing the cookies constantly. Not sure if it works on desktop.

Not even necessary

Completely unrelated to whoever Samuel H. is, but does anyone have that .jpg with that incredibly relevant Sam Hyde quote

It'll probably be awhile before that happens. Reading through the replies to that tweet and they all seem to absolutely love this shit to the point where they're lambasting a seemingly neutral local for complaining

Got a name to put to the face of the Trucker Santa in high-vis who got beaten by the cops right in the middle of the Ottawa protests near The Shed I posted earlier -- it's Ben Froese. (Archive) He's the owner of the crane that the flag has been flying from since the beginning. He was also pepper sprayed right into the eyes.

The night before, he was partying hard despite the frigid temperatures:

real tawk, poutine is fucking disgusting. i cannot fucking believe that the subhuman skinwalker-like creatures we call the "Québécois" are physically capable of digesting such accursed slop.

I prefer Poitín.

So why is it that the Ottawa cops, despite the obviously high bugman population (as seen on Reddit and the character of the City Council), went so easy on the protesters? Why did they have to be swapped out for random assholes from around the country in order for the jackbooting to start in earnest? I could believe cowardice but these protesters wouldn't hurt a fly.

Because they know damn well that this is a new and unique situation. They know the truckers will not harm them. They also have a certain amount of empathy for them, if not sympathy. They just can't show it, that is all. They also see them as different to antifa scum who they do realise want them dead and broke and they think it's funny. Because the eyes of the world are on them. Because they don't want to be in the spotlight for a Derek Chauvin moment from 20 different camera angles (even if they all look like they were filmed on a potato). Just some possible reasons. I don't know.

The reason they had to be swapped out was because the good cops didn't want to do this dirty job. Just like in any brutal regime they get the cops from other countries, because no decent cop wants to opress their family or friends. In Bahrain, where the Shia majority (70 percent) are ruled over by the minority Suni (30 percent), they employ cops from Baluchistan in Pakistan. They are fucking brutal. They aim the ""non-lethal"" weapons like rubber bullets and bean-bag rounds at the eyes of children, blinding many of them. Whoopsie, what a bad shot I am...

It's why the police in our own countries are employing midgets and lesbians and blacks. Because they are 'other' and they know they have an axe to grind and are happy to get their own back on all those people who ever wronged them. That's the idea anyway, and it does work to an extent. So, as has already been mentioned, that leaves just the psychos who just enjoy the thrill of it all, or the mercenaries who like the bonus money. Talking of mercenaries...

They seemed to get a lot of people under duress to tow away those trucks. I'm not sure how you can really force people to do that against their will. I mean you can try of course, but in practice? I guess one way or another they made them an offer they couldn't refuse (probably a big pay check). I'd imagine it's quite a specialist job to tow a rig like that with confidence in conditions like that. It won't be anything anyone boasts about anyway in the coming years when they take a trip down memory lane with their drinking buddies, eh?

Glad to see you back and unscathed
I've kind of been here the whole time to be honest :P

Once the police started making their move in Ottawa in the morning on that second day I just kind of focused on recording the initial push in case any of the streams got pulled down, and I decided to do it side by side with CBC; one with their slant, and one with a streamer on the ground to see how the two "styles of reporting" would conflict.

This was literally the moment before I went dark, and right when they started pushing in from the Right T Section in front of Parliament that I was grabbing images of:

I have a lot of more of this recorded, all in linear succession, just need to render it down a little bit to make it easier to upload on my terrible internet, if people want more of it?

Other than that I just watched the House of Commons today for 13 hours... was a nice relaxing stream for an insane hangover... just about finished with the debate.
