Maybe it's because I'm an autist but the second I turned 10, 11 or so it felt like pretty much all my interests were suddenly called babyish or "inappropriate for a girl your age". This is all medical residents in the West. US and Canadian doctor trainees (residents) get paid about minimum wage for 80-hour work weeks after they graduate medical school with $300,000 of debt as a bare minimum. It leads to terrible incentives. One significant one, even in the States, is that doctors funnel themselves into high-paying specialties like dermatology and sex change surgery instead of family practice- where they're badly needed- because family doctors barely make enough money to repay those big ol' student loans. Sidhbh is out to make as much bank as she possibly can, but those pressures affect good doctors, too.

And she was educated in Ireland where college doesn't cost 300k, and it was her decision to head over to the States.

Can confirm this is partially correct. Just used Firefox - A browser I haven't used for six years - and when you type in "Dr. Sidhbh Treasa Gallagher", Kiwifarms is the first thing to pop up. (I used Bing). However, if you just search for "Dr. Sidhbh Gallagher", the thread doesn't even crack the first four pages of query result.
