The Official Futurama Griefing Thread - Revived for Hulu because Matt Groening needs to milk his cartoons to death

Actually, he said everyone on the cast deserved to be paid more for their talent, not just him. People just ran with the “HE WANTS MORE MONEY” thing to make him look bad.
Fair enough.

My point was that even if DiMaggio *was* saying that *only* he deserved more money than the other cast members, he's still probably mostly correct.

Billy West is the only other cast member who if he left, would immediately make me not give a shit about the Futurama reboot. And that's mostly because he voices literally half of the characters in the show.

FOX Futurama was one of my favorite shows during it’s initial run. Never missed an episode.

The movies were…meh. Some funny parts but mostly forgettable

The Comedy Central run had a handful of good episodes but was mostly crap

I’m not even going to bother with the Hulu run. I’ll just stick with the classic good episodes

His head referenced it in Benders Big Score but I don't know if it was in the Comedy Central seasons.
It was actually Peak Oil that was referenced in Bender's Big Score - about how we'd all be paying $100 a gallon for gas by 2012. Because the one thing you want to do over and over again in your futuristic sci-fi series is make it seem dated as fuck with references to contemporary political issues.

Maybe I’m in the minority but I thought the show lost a bunch of steam in its final Fox season but ended okay enough. The show was written by a bunch of Simpsons writers who were a big part of the reason why that show was declining. The DVDs felt more like fanservice than anything else and the Comedy Central series was shite from the getgo and I quit watching pretty early on.

Not gonna bother with this version, especially since it sounds like the show is encountering problems already.

Let's do like we do in the Simpsons thread and share our favorite quotes instead of mourning the death, rebirth, murder, rape, reanimation, and remurder of yet another good show.

"As the candy hearts poured into the fiery quasar, a wondrous thing happened, whynot. They vaporized into a mystical love radiation that spread across the universe, destroying many, many planets; including two gangster planets and a cowboy world.

But one planet was exactly the right distance to see the romantic rays and not be destroyed by them: Earth.

So all over the world, couples stood together in joy.

...and me, Zoidberg!

And no one could have been happier unless it would have also been Valentine's Day.

What? It was? Hooray!"

“And I’m his pal, Jesus!”

I finally added Connie Francis's version of I Will Wait For You to my music library.

That episode aired when I was away at school. Our family dog died not long after. She grew up with me, she was my friend when few humans would be, and even when she was old and sick she was happy whenever I visited. She never lacked love from the rest of the family, but when I was there her family was complete. But I wasn't there for her at the end. I will always feel terrible about that. And Fry's stupid cartoon dog always reminds me of it.

Funny quote: Hermes stares at the airlock button for a second, considering, then says, "Okay."

You mean to tell me Matt Groening has time for a reboot no one asked for when he’s made running the Simpsons into the ground his full time job?
Original run was the best, movies kind of sucked, and I can’t watch the post movie episodes because they’re terrible

In all fairness, Matt Groening has been pretty much forced out of The Simpsons since the early 2000's. Aside from a few guest spots and collecting the royalty checks, he's got nothing to do with that show.

Al Jean is the one responsible for running that particular show into the ground.

Still, you're dead on the money with this. This new Futurama reboot is gonna suck.

“Have you ever tried simply turning off the TV…sitting down with your kids…and hitting them?”

“I’m so embarrassed, I wish everyone else was dead.”

Reviving Futurama for current day politics is not really a good reason to revive it. If anything, Black Mirror managed to do what Futurama could not without the excessive humor.

Plus, Disenchanted is proof that Matt Groening watched way too much Sleeping Beauty and Alice In Wonderland and actually thought he could use the humor from current day Simpsons and Futurama and make it into a good show.

"It's a buffet! If only I had my wallet."

"It's free."

"We traveled back in time! Some idiot must have put metal in the microwave."

"That's not a UFO, that's my ass!"
