He didn't say "cause" he said "allowed". You wanna white knight for the corrupt geriatric child sniffing mushbrain thats all you, but you'd have to be an absolutely retarded brainlet to think he hasn't exacerbated the situation the whole time he's been in office. His, his son's, his "mentors" and some of his other pals are the whole reason we are as involved as we are with as little capability to respond or leverage as we have, and Putin knows it. Russia would not have nearly as strong a position if the current admin hadn't crippled US energy production and tied up so much of our dirty laundry in such a backwater pockmark as Ukraine.
You summed it up better than I did, but cut Tech a little bit of slack since he's probably aware of how much I despise Biden's guts. It was a foregone conclusion that this would happen, but the Wag the Dog media hype has been nails on a chalkboard to witness all month.

That's a big happening for Ukraine, but our American kiwis shouldn't worry much. It's not known for now how Biden will react to this situation. Right now the West is talking about economical sanctions, and that's all. Direct involvement of muricans is highly unlikely.
I think Biden's already going on record saying he's not sending American soldiers to Ukraine. But Biden and Putin doing a tit-for-tat on each other with sanctions could be pretty bad on its own.

The only way to avoid a Russia/Ukraine war was absolutely unacceptable from a geopolitical stand point, political standpoint and the like.
That's under the assumption that there's going to be a war. So far, it seems Russia is going to enforce what was supposed to happen via the Minsk agreements,
making the de-facto sedition an official one.
Now, if they're moving further west, or Kiev tries something stupid, then we're talking. Possible, but not the most probable outcome. Not by a long shot.

Oh yeah? Prepare for COUNTER-SANCTIONS, American scum. We're going to bulldoze cheeses and bomb Voronezh.

Bolded for truth. People are ignorant of the cost of the last war - Chechen war's - on the normal civilian population - Chechen militants were able to pull acts of sabotage and terrorism deep in Russia. Probably going to get downvoted for this, but both Russians and Ukranians have a sizable population that look/act like the other, and the border is not that hard to cross. This means it's really easy for one side/both sides to do nasty covert missions on each other that will probably hit civilians. Stuff like blowing up bridges, air planes, gas lines, supermarkets and other high value targets.

Chechens are special people, I'd say exceptional individuals ... and I say this without an iota of disrespect. Dudes walk the talk. A Chechen can be your best friend or your worst enemy, something every nation should inspire to.

Post Russian occupation, there were Russian commanders who did crimes, rapes, killing, the war things. After Kadirov pledged his allegiance, Chechens used the Russian own military network to find all those field commanders years later, most of them already retired, to serve justice.

This is just "recognition" though ... Honduras and Venezuela did it like 8 years ago.

this doesn't really mean shit, Russia is not annexing the territory, simply "recognizes" them as independent entities. They are not part of Russia.

The downside is that there was a whole lot of shit-talk from a country with GDP less than NY or TX or CA ... can his ass cash the check his mouth wrote?

Seems a dumb move by Putin, but otoh it didn't look like he had any other options on the menu except the ever-popular "Eat Shit":

“We’ve been negotiating for eight years,” Putin told his aides at one point during the security council meeting. “We’re at a dead end.”

Whether they were negotiating in good faith or not, and probably nobody involved was, it is true that the shitshow in eastern Ukraine has been going on for longer than Star Trek: The Next Generation. Maybe this will start the process of normality returning to Escape from Tarkov: The Breakaway Republics, or maybe it'll get worse, but the status quo couldn't last forever.

Hard to see what Russia gets out of this tho. The best things they were realistically likely to achieve at the start of 2022 were approval of Nord Stream 2 and halting the Natofication of Ukraine. Recognizing the separatists doesn't make the Germans more likely to approve the pipeline, and if anything a Ukraine shorn of its Russian fringes is more likely to be welcomed into Nato eventually.

Only good outcome of this is it gives Russia a pretext to declare victory and go home, tho whether they'll be willing or able to do that now is unclear.

Also what happened to the CIA/MI6 intelligence that the commie-nazis were 99.99743% likely to invade Ukraine, start WW3, and send all their heckin valid transgenders to concentration camps before the end of February? In a clown world, even Armageddon is tedious and gay (:_(

It is a very interesting question as to what is going to be considered by Russia to be the territory of those republics. Currently LDNR control much less than they have a claim for. If those borders are to be recognized, this would imply the need to recapture Kiev-controlled cities as well.

Lol he literally laid the groundwork for a total invasion by saying Ukraine was a creation of Russia
He just said the same glibberish he always says, Ukraine has no history bla bla bla, Ukraine exists thanks to Russia bla bla bla, he has been talking that for ages, mix typical boomer shit, low esteem and shitty knowledge of history and here you go. Also, he never needed a groundwork for invasion, it has been there since 2014 and if wanted it the casus belli would be made up in one day. All this noise around Ukraine serves only one purpose - to be regarded by the US and the EU as equal, but it's not gonna happen lol, because a banana dictator with nuclear bombs and microscopic economy is not.

If there would be any serious sanctions, I feel bad for our Russian kiwis already. Oligarchs have money to support easy life for themselfs and their children. But what about regular Russians? Russian currency is dropping already.

The drop is apocalyptic. And that's before the stock exchange opens tomorrow.
