Trump Enslavement Syndrome - Orange man good. /r/The_Donald and any public demonstration of rabid pro-Trump enthusiasm in spite of all reason.

I'm not even joking when I say I prefer Biden to half the people on that image

Slightly off topic but I really hate how GOP boomers act like everyone to the left of Trump hates America and wants it to turn into another dystopian commie block shithole

I love my country, but that doesn't mean I have to be a gun toting, truck driving, "MURICA" screaming gorilla nigger to show it. Acknowledging that your nation has faults and has done terrible things in the past doesn't automatically mean that you want to burn it all to the ground and start anew. If you were a real "patriot" then you would praise your country's accomplishments while also accepting it's faults so you can hopefully reconcile/fix them

it's this weird McCartny era thinking. "If you don't teach the bible in school, the commies will come and rape your kids!!!!" it's a fear tactic that has been used for years. you don't want big companies poising your drinking water? well, sir you're a commie and shouldn't be allowed to live. My state wanted to increase the taxes for people making over 250k a year. The GOP here did a smear campaign saying it was communism and the poor fuckers here believed it. "No new taxes!!!" yeah, if you don't make 250k a year, you'll be fine. hell, my home state was one of the few that legalize gay marriage before 2015 and the GOP said it will bring socialism to this country and were trying to get it blocked by the SCOTUS. what does gay marriage have to do with socialism?

Socialism and communism has long since become a byword for "anything I don't like" in America.

Yep. I love my house, but if there's an issue, I fix it. I feel the same way about my country. If there's an issue with it, I want it fixed

Compared to the Republicans after him. Nixon IMO was the last great Republican president. Yes, considering Watergate.
George HW wasn't a bad president. He wasn't good, but he wasn't bad. Was incredibly boring, although Dan Quayle made up for the boringness

I wonder why they skipped Ford and Hoover. Like, I can see why they would want to skip them, but if they're skipping unpopular Republican presidents they might as well skip Nixon. I suppose they might want to skip Ford specifically because he was president despite never winning an election and that would distract from their 2020 election bullshit, but why skip Hoover? If it's just because he was a wealthy elite whose laissez faire policies led to the Great Depression then why include Calvin Coolidge?

There's this narrative on the right that
  1. Hoover was actually super-interventionist when it came to the economy
  2. Said interventionism prolonged the Depression when laissez-faire would've let the economy get better on its on
  3. The previous two facts have been covered up by liberal historians because it would be inconvenient for them

He was not, in fact, super-interventionist, except when it came to things like the Smoot-Hawley Tariff, one of the worst pieces of legislation anyone ever devised.

But conservatives have always had their own alternate history - one where FDR deliberately set up Pearl Harbor to get us into the war, and fighting Hitler instead of Stalin.

I remember some godforsaken idiot live tweeting a very dumb book about how FDR, who was from one of the richest families in America, was actually a secret Communist and Stalin's puppet. The evidence, among others, being that FDR thought a joke Stalin made at Churchill's expense was funny.

What's next on the Republican agenda? Marching with giant portraits of Trump and Putin during rallies?
you're a bit late to the psycho party
