What a miracle, there's a gunman during the scheduled lunch break of the Senate's vote on the emergency act.

One person is in custody:

Police earlier tweeted they responded to a shoplifting call with a "possible weapon," that one person was arrested and there was no threat to public safety, but then deleted the tweet.

Multiple witnesses reported the power went out inside the shopping centre. Customers just inside an entrance on Rideau Street were told to leave and run west, toward Sussex Drive.
Police are asking people to avoid the area. Ottawa's LRT service is suspended between uOttawa and Parliament stations.

There is a reason I used the word dismantle in this. Its not good enough to forsake a weapon, to leave it aside, to swear to not use it, because your enemy will pick it up. People are right to point at conservative "I won't do that" attitude as a problem. Its not enough to say "I won't abuse this tool", conservatives need to proactively disarm them. I said as much in the Joe Biden threads, how Conservatives must engage in active legislature forbidding the government from actions, as opposed to simply not doing a thing and assuming everyone else will play by the same rules.

This is a bit off topic but since it's downtime I figure it can't hurt to ask.

How are my fellow Americans feeling? I'm legit kind of shook up by this. I mean it's not weird to see British colony turn authoritarian given the records of the UK and Australia, but the speed and severity this happened has shocked me. All the stories of people having their savings stripped away because they donated a couple bucks to, and I'm quoting the Trudeau regime, a protest is still kind of surreal to me. It took just a couple weeks for things to get that bad.

My question is, should we Americans start prepping for this to happen to us? I know everyone here would say you should have pulled out of banks and started prepping years ago, but I'm talking about serious prepping. Not just keeping a rainy day fund in crypto/gold/silver, but pulling ALL of your assets out of banks. Not just having a couple weeks/months of supplies, but years. I'm not sure if I should be that nervous, but I kind of am at this point. What are ya'll thinking?

Not going to alter much. I have already prepped for a financial cyber attack / power outage. I have close to $500 in an car safe if I lose my wallet and need to spend the night and get back home. I keep close to $55 on my person.

At home is where I really prep, I keep close to about $4000 in US hard currency for SHTF and about $200 for spending money. I have a few gold American eagles and Lady Fortuna's along with a ton of silver. Also, I keep a small reserve of foreign currency.

PLing a bit but I’ve done some journalist-adjacent internships when I was college and I can confirm that these people live in a bubble that robs them completely of any foresight. They have no idea how loathed they are by anyone living outside their metro area. At best, the normies treat journalists with apathy. At worst, you get this thread.

Personally I think the cops are the biggest threat. Jounoswine are just like politicians in that they're just putting words to paper. They're ultimately harmless on their own, they need someone to wear the jackboot for them. And I can at least sympathize with the greed of the journoswine and politicians, they're compensated well for their treachery.

Cops are whole different breed. The one's putting the jackboot down aren't doing it for money or reputation. They're paid a pittance and treated like shit. As the leaks have shown, they wear the jackboot because they get off on it. Literal psychopath scum.

It means that the 1/6 donors gave money to ensure that those charged with crimes stemming from the Capitol incident have legal representation. They just don't want to admit that giving money for someone's legal defense is categorically bad.
