I could preach about how neocons had this grand plan about using the economy to influence China to become more open and democratic; perhaps I could tell stories about how they sought to implement a new type of peace among nations states stemming from each nation being reliant upon each other from trade. I could do those things but I will not. That would be lying. The simple reason is money.

That being said, I don't see China going to all out war with the United States. The Chinese and East Asian countries are far too smart for that. What I liken this to is that the US is playing chess, move / countermove while the Chinese are playing GO! In my mind, the West has already fucking lost. We are so obsessed with making sure X minority has their proportional representation (or greater) in key sectors that we are losing sight of the objective. They say that diversity is strength but diversity make ones nation more susceptible to spies. Looking to the Cold War, we had a very difficult time getting human intelligence from the Soviets while it was surprisingly easy for them. Looking at China, we had Diane Feinstein's driver and the girlfriend of a Representative from California. But the reverse in China is very difficult to achieve. Frankly, our dominance in various fields will slowly be taken over by these East Asian nations and will be become pay pigs to their shitty product. They don't want to kill us the need us to keep their middle / upper class happy.

What will become of the US in the future?

Russia is doing what they're doing out of complete desperation. Their demographics are fucked for one, they can't defend their borders in any conventional war, and a significant portion of future talent are migrating out of Russia for greener pastures. This is the move of a former superpower trying to retain their relevance. You can thank this guy for turning his country into a regional power with nuclear weapons.

Imo Russia has a better military than China, but China has a better economy and more soft power. Russia also has more nukes. However, the Chinese are greying and decoupling will hurt them more.

The situation is the same for all the legacy powers of the past several centuries, whether China, Japan, Germany, France, UK, Russia and even the US. The once great nation states have been deliberately dismantled via reduced birthrates, mass immigration and outsourced industrialization to the former colonies of the global super powers.

I highly doubt Ukraine and Russia will go to war, but in the event they do I look forward to the EU flooding Ukraine with fresh off the boat negroes from Africa to help with the rebuilding effort like they did with Turks in Germany post WW2. Likewise a weakened Russia can look forward to the Chinese demanding concessions from them in the event the war in the west goes badly.

Nobody ever wins, we all always lose. Just look at the fruits of our "victory" from the Allies over the Axis. Does anyone here feel like we won anything?

All the highest military, economic and technological analysis means very little when you have a population that won't fight for you or can't fight for you. I'm not even simping for the East, just stating a very obvious hole all theorycraft on conflicts involving the West tend to ignore and is limit to the projection of power. It's one thing for Trudeau to sic his Cheka on Canadian citizens, it's another thing if he expects those same citizens to go die overseas. The cops aren't going to be the ones getting sent over, it's the people in the West the cops keep in line the state needs to be sent over.

Pick out any demographic of fighting age (40 or under to 16, let's say they're desperate) and tell me they would want (or are capable) to fight and die in a steppe, desert or island somewhere for their government. You couldn't come up with a community that would be substantial enough. All you have are screaming Boomers and Antifa who need drugs or dilation stations, no one else.

Top that off with every political voice that exists telling people not to join the Zionist/WhiteSupremacist/Satanist/Communist/Capitalist/Ultra Christian/Authoritarian/Imperialist force's attempt to get you killed when the fight is really here at home, and it's a complete clownshow.

Globohomo spent a decade ether trying to troon out the populace, or using Id politics to turn their citizens against each other along race gender lines. As well as telling every person born past 1980 that the USA and the west is evil. Then make surprised Pikachu face, when millennials and zoomers wont fight a war for them.
