On the day of the thing, I remember somebody posting a batch of wider or uncropped shots where the "cowering in fear" people are posing for those pics while surrounded by other politicians, staff, security, etc., all standing around like nothing interesting is happening. No search I can formulate brings up those pics, of course.

Inferential evidence that my memory is right: No other interior pictures resemble the mood of the cower shots. There were "clashes" outside, typical of what happens whenever cops are let off leash, but in the building everything was boring (except for the murder).

I hunted it up and yeah, it was a great speech. He acknowledged that they can't even agree on facts, let alone conclusions, that the controversy is represented by equal divisions of the population, across demographics, and that emergency powers would only worsen the conflict and inflame the situation, and so he'll vote against. His concern is serving the people, and I loved when he said he hasn't seen any leadership.

I'm fully of the opinion that the US Convoy is a honeypot. It came out of nowhere and as stated by many people here, the US doesn't have much to freedom convoy for. The time for solidarity was weeks ago when the world honked in solidarity, too.

Something is really off about the origins and organization of the US Convoy. It doesn't sit right with me. It simply seems too good to be true that they'd drive to DC to blockade it: they must know they'll be subjected to political arrest or worse.

Regardless of whether it's a grassroots movement or not, it smells really fishy and it's the perfect chance for an opportunistic gayop.

Also Donald Trump praised Putin as he invaded Ukraine, after having praised the Canadian convoy, which is some really convenient timing for the narrative the Biden admin wants to tell about the American convoy. They can beat the "muh Russia" drum with a provable 1 degree of separation and brand Trump's core fanbase not just as insurrectionists but as a literal fifth column.

To flatten the curve, the first stage of WW3 will be fought at home.
