Don't worry, the West is gonna stonewall the Ruskis.

This is probably a bad take.. but what's exactly the problem here assuming this isn't a recreation of the Soviet Empire which I'm not convinced it is. Putin is smart enough to know empire is a net negative particularly due to his love of Soviet history.

Worse case scenario Ukraine is now Russian,

Most likely scenario Ukraine gets a hair cut and there are two new countries over there.

If the most likely outcome happens, what's the problem?

It doesn't really matter what Russia sees as a vital strategic interest if they have no money to pay soldiers and purchase weapons, no food to feed their soldiers, and no water to drink.

On a related note, Russia really does not have very many modern aircraft and tanks. They have ~150 T-80BVMs, ~100 T-90Ms, (compared to ~1800 M1A2 SEPV2s and M1A2Cs) and maybe 150 KA-52s (Compared to ~800 AH-64s and 90 AH-1Zs). They've lost at least one T-80BVM and at least one KA-52 absolutely confirmed on videos in this thread. Those losses are simply unsustainable on Russia's paltry and dwindling resource pile.

People in this thread screaming that Ukraine is lost and Ruskies are on the verge of capturing Kyiv need to reevaluate their retardation.
People called me a retard for saying Russia is stupid for fucking around with Ukraine considering Russia's demographics and antiqued military equipment

Well shit. I didn't think they would go straight to Kiev. I would have thought they'd just take the break away regions and some extra smaller eras as a bargaining chip.
If the Ukranians were smart, they'd isolate and destroy them while they can for a quick victory and to prevent them from digging in.

nigger no amount of economic damage will ever outweigh what russia sees as a vital strategic interest.
the question is how long is the memory of europe and is it longer than russia can hold out.
lets say they take over ukraine, how long until the rest of the world stops caring and drops sanctions?
maybe putin is betting on the short memories of the world?

My man, Putin would not start such a vast invasion of Ukraine if he only wanted Donetsk and Luhansk seeing as how he already had a third of them. He likely wants at minimum everything south and east of the Dnieper and more likely a Ukrainian client state for the remainder.

Remember how the Ukrainian government was doling out weapons to its citizens for civilian militias? That's not a bad thing, but imagine if they were all already armed.

In a perfect world we would be teaching the Taiwanese about the glories of the 2A, and they would all be armed. It would be much harder for the bugmen to invade that way.

Was the whole Moldova thing a nothingburger?
They were hearing strikes in Odessa.
What are they meant to do? Go to war with Russia over a non-NATO shithole?
Dump in weapons and advisors, if the Ukie army isn't a shattered mess with no command coordination and if there's literally anything left of their air defense or air force. Which is unlikely since those things are literally the first things the Russians hit a la Iraq's anal raping. Given that it's only been a day and nobody knows what the fuck is going on the first thing anybody seeking to intervene in any way would need to do is establish just what the fuck is going on, who's in charge, and what their plan is. Which I'm pretty sure nobody on the Ukrainian side knows right now.

Considering Russia is where they get their energy from... pretty quickly I imagine. Yay for going green!

If the Russians are successful, it won't be long at all. They just keep acquiring more and more bargaining chips. Won't remove sanctions if we return 10 Ukrainian cities? What about 20 cities?
