If Trump was a Putin puppet, why did Putin wait until Trump was gone to invade?

That does not make any sense.
Not that i think our particular choice in president would have made any difference right now but for the sake of argument: because now Russia needs the buffer?

Presidents have always been figureheads though, and I truly doubt any one would have made a difference in current affairs. Nor would I feel safer if Trump was at the helm during the invasion, or Obama, or any Bush or Clinton. The president and the people who define and execute our response to this have been aware of it for longer than we'll ever know, its not a matter of "oh shit wake Biden up its happening" like people are memeing. A country could never hinge upon a single person in this era.

Is this a desperate effort to motivate a NATO counterattack? Why would the Russians want Chernobyl? There's nothing there but a radioactive disaster zone.

They probably don't want to do anything but secure it. You don't want radical Ukrainian defense forces to try opening a radioactive danger zone in the middle of your supply line.

Some lucky Russian grunts are going to spend the rest of the war standing around staring at a fence around the dome.

How the fuck can that demented old pedophile do NOTHING while our embassies are under attack? This shit needs to be fixed NOW.
Too late

He's probably in there for the rape.
Internet tough guy Jack Posobiec is ready for the nuclear holocaust but I wonder if he knows that Ukraine is accepting foreign fighters

Spam him the recruitment link.
After the USSR collapsed they were actually the third largest nuclear power just by virtue of how many soviet warheads were left on their soil. They gave them up as part of an agreement that their sovereignty be protected in absence of nuclear deterrence. I'm sure they regret that now. Good fucking luck denuclearizing any other nation after this.
IIRC we insisted they take the deal because proliferation bad.

In hindsight having a nuclear-armed buffer state next to russia would've been an outstanding move, but our government were all retards back then.

And now too.

Whats the decision you want?
The ones on the board are:
1) More sanctions, turn Russia into a pariah (what all leaders would do)
2) Completely ignore, let Russia do what it wants, no sanctions, no nothing
3) Direct involvement, boots on ground escalation to ww3

Keep in mind, only 1 out of 4 americans want to have a 'major involvement' in the war and most of those are boomers who wouldn't get drafted and do any fighting.
He just wants to seem smart on KF. Updoots and all

>Step 1: Sell guns and ammo to both sides
>Step 2: Open up bets in Vegas on who wins

And those decision makers are the learned elders of zion.

As an American, it has really pissed off and even humiliated me to see this weasel-faced totalitarian cunt Putin take every single President from Dubya like a carny taking a rube. He took Dubya like a rube, then he took Obama, then he took Trump, now he's taking Biden.

Why the fuck can't we have some cold-hearted realpolitik son-of-a-bitch like Putin but American? I mean we got Kissinger but he's going to die and go to Hell any day now.

This whole ridiculous kabuki dance has been nice. Putin made it clear he was planning to invade, sat around a bit taking in the responses from the world to doing this, then decided whether the probable benefits of doing it, weighed against the costs of the angriest of denunciations, made it still profitable to do it.

Then he did it.

We need leaders capable of making decisions here.
MOS and rank?

why do we pretend to have casus beli anymore?
it's nice, i take
Because even in the most self-serving wars, the principles of Just War have to be followed in order to keep the conflict contained to a scale that is winnable.

Think of it like aggro in an MMO. If you go around invading whomever whenever or using chemical weapons, then more countries will join the war to put a stop to you than if you conducted a restrained conflict. All your actions in a war should be dedicated to ending the war. This is why nukes in WW2 were justified, but using nukes today would not be - today they’d escalate the conflict, not end it.

The laws of war are not moralfaggotry, they are cold hard logic.

Ukraine is neither a small country nor a big country. It isn't a country.
I've never understood it as anything other than Russia's front yard.

Before anyone regails me with an autistic /int/ breakdown about Kievan Rus or Mongols or Finno-ugrics or whatever: I know there's a difference, and I don't care.
