Think about it: a schizophrenic can legitimately consider himself to be the Pope, or to be a part of some great conspiracy. Yet we know not to indulge them in their delusions; so why is believing yourself to be the opposite gender something we're supposed to take seriously?
I suspect it comes down to numbers and money. A whole papacy of false Popes haven't yet attached themselves to the issue du jour (LGB) like a fucking parasite, and these people are functional enough to integrate socially, and manipulate socially.

There's a plausibility to the gender argument that other claims of identity don't have, because gender has a cultural element to it that people understand is bullshit. You know that episode of the Simpsons where Bart learns to like ballet? That's what most of the uninitiated think trooning is about. They think it's about feeling constricted by cultural gender roles, which many people can empathize with because feeling insecure in your masculinity or femininity is common, even if most people get over it. It's only when you start actually digging into it, start reading the posts by trans people, noticing the fixations on the physical anatomy of women that AGPs display, that you realize that it's not about a boy liking makeup.

E: It sort of warms my heart that so many trans people are saying that cis allies are doing "nothing" while all this is happening. It shows how much of the trans support is people trying to humor the troons, but that when push comes to shove a lot of otherwise sympathetic people do understand how insane it is to prevent kids from going through puberty. I feel like the speed at which these new positions become orthodoxy (in this case, that 13 year olds can possibly know what's in their best interests here) in the trans-movement is really starting to alienate people.

One thing that doesn't get talked about enough is the way that the top-down "trans acceptance" push in the USA coincided right with the start of the Trump presidency and the effects this had on "cis allyship."

Thing is, even very moderate liberals hated Trump. Tens of millions of Americans hated him so much that they were willing to elect a walking corpse just to get him out of office. Whether that hate was justified or not is irrelevant; the point is that a lot of people were willing to enthusiastically support any culture-war issue that put them on the other side of Trump and Trump supporters. Including troons. I think a lot of troons mistook this proxy war for genuine support. Now many of them are wondering where their allies are and the truth is, most of their allies just didn't give a fuck. They were just swept up in the anti-Trump stuff.

Doesn't this apply to most culture-war issues? Sure, but most genuinely marginalized groups have long accepted that the general population does not give much of a shit about them, and they are accustomed to taking that into account as they attempt to advance their cause. Troons on the other hand are delusional and overconfident, and their movement has been so well-funded and rapid and successful that they have no experience of pushback. Most TRAs are white middle-class young people who are accustomed to being listened to. They have no concept of actual systemic oppression, so they decided that the performative support was an indicator of reality.

Even now, the biggest trans public figures are not attempting to build an empathetic case about what is happening in Texas; they're just whining and scolding people. They are not going to give an inch or even attempt to look at why stuff like this is gaining ground, other than 'republican bigot terf transphobes want kids to die!"

Oh well, it is fun to watch I guess.

What a load of shit. I don't cry unless somebody dies or very rarely at the end of a sad movie so it's definitely not an estrogen thing. I think these people will be shocked when HRT doesn't change that.
Ah, but you grew up with estrogen, where carved by it, molded by it. When they first took estrogen they where already men.

That is to say, hormones probably have a bigger punch when your body isn't used to them and your system suddenly has to regulate shit it wasn't set up to regulate.

So they probably don't lie about their emotional turmoil, though, being troons, they exagerate.

This is bang on the money, and part of the backlash you're seeing now is that troons are struggling to articulate an actual empathy based narrative about why these laws are bad. When you look at other social issues, despite the ebb and flow there's a steady tick upwards over decades in terms of say, same sex marriage acceptance, or even interracial marriage as like a proxy for extreme racial animus. And that happens because of actual on the ground connections, not bullshit political rhetoric. It's an appeal to empathy and mutual respect, and it essentially relies on an appeal to the same spirit of tolerance and live-and-let-live that has been at the core of US belief systems since a dozens of often incompatible sects of Christianity settled there.

But with Troons, what they are asking for is crazy. The child thing in particular basically goes against the instinct of almost any parent. You know that kids aren't making fully rational decisions or taking long term consequences into account. Once again, instead of appealing to a common human experience, the troon is saying that in this one case, you have to make an exception to an understanding of childhood/adolescence that is universal. In this one case, not blindly trusting the teenager to do invasive body modification is genocide. Imagine if that same logic was being argued for getting a full face tattoo to look like a pony or something. It would be treated as totally absurd. They aren't asking to live a life like any other, they are specifically saying that parents should ignore their own experiences on this one specific topic, because cis people can't understand the anguish of being trans.

It's also really noticeable to me that they always say "Trans kids will die" and not "Trans kids will kill themselves". It's one massive implied suicide threat. But I think it needs to stay implied, because as soon as you state that it's a largely self-inflicted genocide they fear, then I think it becomes harder to empathize with and react to. I might be overthinking the language a bit, but it seems like there's a very deliberate passive framing to the issue, because actually stating what the narrative they are spewing is directly would make it seem less like a genocide, and more like a tantrum.

The best part is that his lesbian co-host, Katie, is basically a crypto-Terf and got cancelled for it already. She has a real lesbian wife and didn’t back down so now troons can only seethe and go after Jesse who does seem to try to maintain twitter respectability.

I'm kind of fascinated by the Jesse Singal hate, especially since it breaks the usual TRA pattern of going after women more (they seethe about Jesse way more than Katie, even though she is female and terfier).

Others have made good points and I think you are definitely on to something about respectability. Something about being genuinely nice and respectable seems to disproportionately set off the TRAs (same as with Rowling).

Perhaps because they realize that they're still getting invited to parties with other nice respectable people? Plus maybe TRAs consider them a safer target because there is no chance they'll reply with something mean?

I don't think you're overthinking; there is very dishonest and deliberate language framing going on all over the place. Like "banning trans healthcare" or "banning trans kids from accessing healthcare" as if people are trying to prevent kids from accessing chemotherapy or insulin, rather than specific cosmetic surgeries. Or the outright lies about "[State] wants to ban trans kids from playing sports!" when of course boys who have decided they are girls would still be allowed to play on a boys' team.

Unfortunately for them, the whole scheme relies on nobody ever looking any closer, which doesn't work in the long term because this shit affects people and it emotionally affects people. Parents talk to each other; each teenage boy who blitzes a girl's track meet, and each 16-year-old girl who cuts her tits off and then regrets it, is going to cause a ripple effect among hundreds of parents, who will then talk to their friends and relatives, who will then talk to other parents. Parents talk to each other and they care about kids, that's kind of how the human race functions.

I saw a number like this all tagging AOC, Pelosi, Schumer, Rachel Maddow, etc. while also demanding ACTION not just THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS or tweets.

None of these people can do anything about how Texas prosecutes "child abuse" cases. They can issue statements against it or tweet, that's it. Your best bet would be all hashtagging some group, which Chase Strangio already probably is marshaling resources for, to sue Texas over it.

The White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, was asked about it (and other laws like the Don't Say Gay bill in Florida) at her daily press conference and gave a boilerplate "we support the LGBTQIA community" statement and I also saw a ton of trans people on Twitter attacking her for not saying TRANS RIGHTS and lumping trans people in with the rest of the "queer community" instead of highlighting the GENOCIDE specifically targeting them.

Troon using to describe anything against them a genocide is one of the more disgusting things I have seen in recent years. Using a word that means the systematic murder of innocents to describe your pissy fit because your insanity isn't accepted is quite frankly disgusting as all hell.
I also think I have gotten to the point of comparing troons to Putin, thing that confirms my theory on the fact that the KGB fuckboi has lost his marbles. Trannies don't get everything they want on their insane agenda, THEY DO GENOCIDE ON US, Putin doesn't get his 2 dumb states recognized, OMG NAZI UKRAINIANS ARE COMMITING GENOCIDE. It makes me think that Putin is probably a troon undercover. Putin using the classic troon lingo is a worrying sign to me.
