You cannot take a city in a night if it's defended. Even the USA took a few days to take Baghdad and the city was largely undefended.
What alot of people mean by take the city is that the opposition army reaches the central administrative district. Completely
taking over the city does take alot more time, but reaching independence square and the presidential palace is the media event
for the fall of the city.

Taking a large metropolitan city in a night is almost impossible to do I dont think you understand how large a major city is.
The goal isn't to take the whole city, just strategic point and infrastructure. Blocking roadways/main streets and turning off the electricity/water will convince a population that fighting isn't in their best interest very quickly.

More stuff from r/Ukraine because it seems like not much from there has been reported. Do be warned though there is a high chance there is some propaganda there.

Update 5:20 Former MP and combatant of the "Dnipro-1" Regiment appealed to the inhabitants of #Dnipro urgently to contact the headquarters of the national security to obtain weapons.

Cell number of representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense was leaked (Ukrainians claim it's thanks to Anonymous) Now Ukrainians are calling her saying "We don't sleep you don't sleep)

That takes longer then a night. Who knows what the Ukraine countermeasures are, so far the Ukranians held up better then expected.

You clearly miss the whole 2014 revolt, this shits gonna be on steroids they aren't going to be giving up that city unless they are dead.

People get really pissy about this shit, I had someone call me a Russian sympathizer because I accidentally said "The Ukraine" instead of Ukraine.
Pretty sure that is a heckin' valid criticism because it is distinctly Russian to refer to Ukraine in such a way. eg на Украине vs в Украине or "on Ukraine" vs "in Ukraine"

When seeing these videos and hearing claims, it's best to ask questions like:

- Is an ancient ukrainian MiG-29 really likely to be able to close to visual range with a modern SU-35 and shoot it down right where it can be filmed?
- Would the russians really fly a large defenseless heavy transport like an IL-76 through contested airspace?
- Would russian tactics for the motor rifle divisions really be "when facing a barricade with armed resistance present, just drive right at it without firing your guns"?

Aren't capeshit soyboys mainly older millennials? Half of what's so absurd about them is that they're balding with full beards, yet their life is centered around kids' shows and shit like that.
No a lot of them are zoomers too. Though with zoomers you get a mix of capeshit and moe anime lolis.

Russia invaded them though how is Ukraines fault? Because you think they should surrender like faggots and kill our content?
Well, it is for various reasons posted throughout this thread. And yeah: dying for your country isn't how you win a war, especially one that was more or less over on the same day. Dancing soldier boy a page or two back should've gone home to party with his friends.

The Ukraine government is fully willing to make thousands of civilians martyrs just because they couldn't admit they got their cheeks clapped. They'll drag this on for as long as possible, hoping to make Russia look bad while praying someone swoops in to save the day.

Actually it's pretty easy. Just "vanish" them and give out a media narrative, and suddenly the idea that they were purged is just a dangerous far-right conspiracy theory.
Hey sometimes it's healthy to take off the tinfoil hat
How many videos that were shot by civies on the ground in Ukraine have you seen over the last few days?
There are probably hundreds, thousands?
You can vanish a few people, no doubt about it.
But executing a purge, on a population-wide scale in a industrial or semi-developed nation where everyone owns a smartphone, ain't gonna happen

Why are they calling it Kyiv? All my life I've seen it called Kiev. Why change it now?
Same reason ISIS became ISIL and then Daesh in the news. I don't actually know the reason but I just assume it's something to do with controlling the narrative to be pro ukraine. Kiev is the correct romanization, though.
