I'm not saying they are the exact same thing.Dude NVGs and Thermal sights aren't the same peice of equipment. Night vision works by amplifying light while thermal sights work by heat detection. The PVS 7 never had thermal capabilies. Both Thermals and NVDs are issued by the US and Russia.
NVG-7 also used infrared (source: the little infrared lamp you could switch on and the infrared chemlights you could use to brighten things) in addition to amplifying ambient light.
Which let you see through windows, tell the difference between a fucking box and the ambient area.
The guy I'm bagging on is the supposed tank mechanic claiming that you can't tell the difference between a cardboard square and the surrounding area because the square is the same temperature and that you can't see through windows with night vision equipment.
Both of which are a fucking lie, unless the US's and everyone else's fucking tech has gone straight backwards.
