A big chunk of it is though. We've already had multiple planes that Ukraine claimed it shot down, which were then proven to be their own planes. I have no doubt that they've inflicted significant casualties on the Russians, but it's obviously not anything like what they're claiming. Shit, we had claims not too long ago that they'd wiped out a whole airborne brigade at the airfield north of Kyiv.

Social media's being (ab)used, loaded with information that don't necessarily have to reflect reality. It's another war of its own. It's a form of psyops.

It bothers me that posts like this don't link sources but the Russian Ministry of Defense is claiming that US drones were loitering over a naval fight and they believe the drones were used to direct Ukrainian forces.

It's Ukraine's propaganda being propped up by our entire western propaganda machine, the same, admittedly extremely powerful machine, that has effortlessly swayed public opinion on everything from the recent Palestine conflict to the summer of love and every other clusterfuck of the past decade. Coupled with the fact that the 'other side' are Russkies, who in the unconscious mind's eye are just reskinned Nazis, and have been villified for decades.. it's not exactly a difficult fight to begin with.

Putin, apparently, attacked Ukraine because he is an power-mad autocrat, and Ukraine is a democracy. Nothing more. The only place I've seen any attempt at serious discussion on what is motivating this is happening in between autistic bouts of shrieking right her on the Farms.

The fact that everyone in the media agrees that this is a war on democracy is enough to convince me that it's anything but that, and the total absence of any serious talk about the causes convinces me, not that Russia is in the right, but that the real cause is complex enough that it doesn't help the Western power elite any for it to gain any traction in public discussion.
