People are surprised and/or ignorant about how militaries in most of the world maintain their vehicles. For americans, a military truck needs to have level 5 STANAG protection, cost at least ~$700k, and have a machine gun/grenade launcher. It isn't surprising given most of them never see war or military stuff except for what they're shown on TV.

UAZ 3909 (variant of 452) is produced since *1965*. It's a light utility van, the one pictured probably has some light supplies. It's supposed to move behind the lines, be cheap and easy to maintain. And I mean easy - most mechanics can repair most of its elements in the field with minimal tools and supplies.

There's nothing wrong with it. It's a perfectly fine utility van.
