If Putin can't have Kiev, he'll simply destroy it and make it anew.
He will do anything but that. Kiev it's what you could call a cradle of Russia. Its where Russia started - a birthing place.

Russians are fed this propaganda about being one nation and slavs being all brothers since they are kids.

If Putin destroyed Kiev he d literally wiped out what he plans to do - rebuild the Great Russia, he needs Kiev for propaganda reason and because all Russians think of Kiev as their homeplace.

Since it seems relevant and its currently 10:45 PM in Ukraine. I want to ask everyone who do you think will hold Kiev in the morning, Ukraine or Russia?
I'd say Russia because they've not even started attacking yet and already there's citywide street fighting between government forces and saboteurs/militia/rebels.

It will still be ukrainians, but with more city parts taken by russians. I wouldn't be surprised if city centre was surrounded in 24 hours.
Are we going to get a "Bombed the last hospital of Kiev" x30 saga again like with Aleppo?
Most probably. They already started with it on the first day. Hell, you get alerts like "Russian artillery targeted kindergarten".

Yes, but this time it's "Bombed the last hospital of Kiev, alongside the final orphanage of Kiev, next to the sole synagogue of Kiev, adjacent to the ultimate WW2 memorial in Kiev, which was curiously next to the first plaque calling Kiev 'Kyev.'"

Could be a result of pushing too quickly. Even if Russia's inflicting signifcantly heavier losses, they're kinda blitzing through and that could leave their columns vulnerable to ambush. The video I saw of an abandoned column seemed to mostly be supply or construction trucks, so the kind of unit you'd see following an assault from the rear. Something similar happened when Italy launched campaigns in North Africa at the start of WW2, pushed extremely fast through mostly empty areas, then the British encircled them, destroyed their supplies, and captured their entire army. Highly doubt anything close to that will happen here, but still, I think Russian forces have pushed so hard and so fast that some Ukrainian units have just gotten out of the way to come back once they can hit the more vulnerable logistics companies.
Very true. In the south (which appears to be the sight of most of these convoys) the Russians are advancing at lightning speed, around the benchmark of 100 km per day. Would have made Hitler's blitzkrieg armies blue with jealousy.

In front of Ukraine's only George Floyd statue.

Jim is a shitposter, not an expert on international relations. He makes decent content, but to expect him to do anything besides latch on to a negative story to a very complex situation under constant false information propoganda with a witty one off Tweet shitpost or two is ridiculous.
Unlike great minds of Kiwifarms :cunningpepe:

BUT even if these 6 (7?) abandoned Russian convoys are all of the convoys that have been abandoned (and they likely are) it still doesn't bode well. Why are they being abandoned? If supply and artillery convoys are coming under attack from Ukrainian troops to the point that they have to be abandoned, that's very serious. Though at least they may be able to recapture them later. Is there a president for this on other conflicts? Anything similar in ww2, or in Iraq and Egypt among Isreali and American forces?

Even if it's true that those are indeed Russian convoys and that they have been abandoned, I still think the Russians win. It's a numbers game, man. Russia has a larger population, which means a larger military, which should mean more engineers that produce more vehicles, and so convoys and artillery can be easily replaced. Also, more people means more taxes, and so the Rus gov't can purchase more artillery and other equipment from foreign countries if they want (or hire mercenaries if they're desperate).

By extension, since Ukies have a lower total population, their pro military is smaller, and so they have to compensate with militia. I don't think Ukies are going to get steamrolled, though. They're the defending force, living inside cities with a ton of buildings, which is a pretty solid advantage on the ground; it means you get to take cover first.

I think Ukrainian militias are smart enough to "play Taliban", meaning they'll try hiding behind their buildings while shooting and throwing molotovs at the enemy until they give up. However, I still think their morale is poor, and so if their buildings are shelled by light artillery or other missiles, they'll run. So, if, by some chance, the Ukrainians manage to make Russians abandon their artillery, that's a big win.

But to me, Russians win, simply because of numbers.

No. Them even suggesting it is lunacy. They should have been stockpiling RPGs and such before the war to hand out if they
wanted to go down this road. Everything they are suggesting to civilians to do is basically asking them to kill themselves.
They put no thought into this whatsoever.

Ukie government is alternating between boasting about Slavic Rambos killing a gorrilion invaders and Russian chumps running away, then encouraging their own civilians and women to do dumb shit guaranteed to get them killed. These are completely contradictory messages.

Can't blame them for saying anything that might help their cause, but you'd get whiplash from following the high frequency oscillation between triumphalism and panic.
