It's also pretty entertaining seeing two people at war, fighting by trying to out-shitpost the other. If you don't speak slav, you can translate the page through your browser. It works fairly well.

I'm by no means a fan of Kissenger, but he made a really good point about all this back in 2014 on Ukraine:

"For the West, the demonization of Vladimir Putin is not a policy; it is an alibi for the absence of one."

For all his faults, he was right about Ukraine from 2000 to 2015. But in the eyes of the whole crowd in washington, Kissenger was a discredited
figure. Victory in the cold war and the rise of the neoconservative thought in BOTH parties led to basically an American policy that considers war with both
Russia and China inevitable. Diplomacy is a waste of time because American victory in any circumstances is inevitable because
its just impossible for the United States to ever lose as proved by the Cold War. Its a sort of insane circular logic, but they believe it.

Appeasement of either side isn't going to sprout peace either. What Kissinger was talking about was the lack of a solid vision of where the new lines of Cold War II should be drawn. This seat-of-your-pants diplomacy is unsustainable as Russia and China take a more antagonistic stances going forward.

For all of the talk about how Ukraine being western-aligned harmed Russian security interests we kinda forget that Ukraine being Russia-aligned harmed the security interests of Poland/Romania/Moldova/etc. It's a two-way street. How do you balance that? Especially since Ukraine has had Russian dick buried in their ass to varying degrees since 1991 and a sizeable portion of the population is not happy about it.
