I got a admit I never thought the Russians would have such a hard time

It just goes to show how much of a power leveller modern weapons systems are. Ukraine has tonnes of easy to use AT and AA systems given to them by the western powers and man are they putting them to use.

Back in my day in the Forces, we were told the Russian would be through the Gap in less then 28 hours. We had to plan on being surrounded and slowly fighting our way out to link up with other bubble forces, using moblity and tactics to avoid handing the enemy any straight on slugging matches.

Man were those guys wrong!
What makes you think they're having "such a hard time?" Their advance on Kiev is outpacing the US's advance on Baghdad by leaps and bounds. Most of the claimed losses and wins by both sides are propaganda, with much more coming from the Ukrainian side while the Russians are keeping mostly quiet. There are some facts that seem fairly solid, like the defenders at Snake Island having surrendered, but even that's hard to tell with all the fog of war. It'll likely be a while before we have a clear idea of what's happened in this conflict.

After watching the Javeline system in use I knew we were at a paradigm shift. Light infantry was viable again as a major force instead of as backup/cannon fodder. Been saying it for years.

Every observation about the relative effectiveness of ATGM's in this conflict needs to be tempered by the fact the Russian's have had a very light hand so far and we haven't seen any truly modern armor being used.

I'm saying that as someone who thinks the operation overall is muddled and poorly coordinated.

It's like waiting for christmas

From what I've heard the US is now at DEFCON 2. If this is confirmed, this will be the first time since the Cuban Missile Crisis the US has gone to such levels. Here I was wanting to laugh at lolcows and we may now actually see the potential end of modern civilization.
I just learned to stop caring at this point. In the end, might as well have a few final laughs on the gossip forum that entertained me for most of the last year. Live your days as you want my dear kiwifrens, live them to the fullest as you may not have tommorow.

yeah I think the idea that putin stopped invading for a day and the fact the forces are kinda trying to be very courteous with their conquest shows they are doing just fine sure they have fuck ups and dumb moments but there isn’t any real heroic stands that are keeping Ukraine free. If Putin wanted Zelensky’s head he could probably just do it right now with a high casualty rate.

Yeah they've invested a lot in drones, from small hand held ones to loitering ones that can kamikaze, it's very strange they haven't been using them

Cool, now we can watch Pollution Goblin shit catch on fire while the chinks stand around jabbering at each other and waving their hands impotently, all trying to figure out who they can blame it on so Xi personally doesn't eat their children.

This should be hilarious.

China is the only country WORSE than the Vodka Goblins when it comes to military equipment and force.

Watch, somehow, the Chinese aircraft carrier is going to crash into a Russiantank column outside of Kiev and it'll all burst into flame.
The lead paint from one downed Chinese fighter is enough to poison groundwater.

Yep, Armenians were kicking ass in the 2020 war until Shusha fell and the reality check happened. There's going to be a lot of disinformation and lies from both sides in the coming weeks, be skeptical and check where you get your info from.

What a bunch of pussies. They always do this shit. They'll intentionally pull the levers they control to activate all of their crisis systems and will have the media report on it despite there not being a crisis worthy of the actions taken. Let me guess: President Biden is stunning and brave for going into his bunker and war was always good.
