at some point you have to put your balls on the table, else you look like joe biden. any ultimatum is pointless when you don't follow up. there's also the common logic of consequence, if you spit in a dude's coffee you're very likely to eat a fist, doesn't matter that there was no explicit stated ultimatum of "if you do X I do Y".I don't know what spurred him into this but he didn't try his hardest to get peace, like I said, he could've at least given an ultimatium, everything identical up to the 24th except instead of invading say "no nukes or we'll invade". That's still taking it a bit far in my opinion but I don't see how you could honestly support bringing nukes into the country either so Putin wouldn't automatically be the bad guy.
the "poking the russian bear" is kinda cringe, but it's also not wrong, and the west has been pulling all kinds of shit (as did russia, don't get me wrong), so it was only a matter of time, at some point the knives come out, one way or another. but then the west being surprised throwing the hands in the air and go "nooooooooooo, how could that happen?!" is peak hypocrisy, and it's even worse how people are eating it up. pretty sure russia has it's grievances to consider an invasion worth it, but with all the shitposting and media propaganda it's simply impossible to get an objective picture or even start a discussion, "putin bad" and that's all that matters.
