A question for everyone, do you think if Belarus intervenes will their soldiers do well or not? The majority of their vehicles are Soviet era and the only war they have been involved in as a country so far is this and limited combat in the Libyan Civil War.

Is invading another country a war crime? Seems to me like that would mean at least one side of every war is automatically a war criminal.
Technically by the standards of the 1940s War Crimes trials and by the UN Charter, invading another country or going to war in most circumstances
is a war crime.
But its never that simple:
1) If you have ANY kind of UN security council resolution to even half-ass justify it, you can go to war. This is how the US went to war with Iraq and Afghanistan
2) If a country is not a member if the United Nations you can go to war with it, you can take all their stuff and do anything you want to it. This was
how the US was able to conduct its war on Serbia in the late 1990s.
3) Under the UN charter, "regional security groups" (like NATO) have vague but nearly unlimited power to intervene in countries within their "region". This
is how the US went to war in Libya. And earlier into various places within the Americas.
4) If you are an outside party and you get invited into the country by some group or organization within the country. Then you can kind of go to war.
5) Countries have a right to "self defense" which is vaguely defined and open to interpretation. But various countries have used this standard to start wars.
6) The "Fuck you" doctrine. In 1941, the British invaded and occupied Iran during world war II. Iran applied to the United States and its President FDR
under the terms of the US/Britain Atlantic Charter that this was wrong. FDR's response to Iran was that their neighbors were in trouble and that
"good neighbors" help each other in time of need. That even though the had been occupied by another country, it was a good occupation. The
same applies to the occupation of Iceland during World War II.
7) You can just not submit yourself to the international court for war crimes. This was the US strategy. If nobody can bring a case against you for
war crimes, there is no war crime.
8) If after the conflict the country you went to war with or its government no longer exists, their case under international law is moot.

An airlift isn't gonna (so to speak) fly in Current Year. In the late 1940's, the airspace was like international waters, and countries weren't as territorial about them.
Uhhhh that’s flat out not true. During WW2, the Swiss shot down both Allied and German planes that flew into their airspace.

The Berlin Airlift worked because the Americans had a right to that air corridor, by treaty.

Eh, I think they will do just ok. If the babushka battalion can hold down parts of Ukraine, then so can Belarus claim some.

Regardless, are you going to tell me that things back then weren’t any better than now? C’mon, man. You were around back then, so you KNOW they were.
I know they were unsustainable. A tech bubble on top of a housing bubble on top of an energy bubble funded by capital fleeing asian markets. It all had a series of collapses shortly after. A house of cards.

Also the Japanese military were planning a coup to keep the war going, and training civilians to fight with useless bamboo spears. America did a lot during WW2, but nuking Japan ended the war pretty definitively and as a result was completely justified.
Nuking them while Russia entered the war against them at the same time.

God no, if put on the front they'd be nearly useless for a variety of reasons. S'why I think they are going to be used to lock down the Ukrainian borders to cut off supplies. Kept out of the main fighting, but used for securing a key strategic goal. All their military needs to do is fight off partisan activity and the occasional military skirmish. Which if the Russians can meet up with their southernmost front, can be more or less entirely secured by an influx of artillery to use to help secure everything.

If the Russian southern offensive joins up with the push south by the Belarussians to secure the border, it's all over. All the Russians have to do is surround the cities and let the Ukrainians starve.

Agreed. Like I said, as bad as it was back then, it’ll never be that good again.

They will not do well if faced with serious opposition

Well, sonny, back then you could walk into a job making $12-$15 an hour in a plant or in a shop with nothing more than a GED and a good word from a friend already there. The only folks working for minimum wage were burger flippers and back then they were all high school kids and not elderly women who can’t afford to live off their Social Security checks alone.
Except the plant shut down in the 1990's and was moved to Mexico or Asia.

Crack and meth were devestating small towns now that they'd moved out of the city.

PC Culture was starting to gain ground, coming out of California and New York.

The 2000's weren't a golden age by far.

the best quote ever about this is "alchohol, tobacco, and firearms should be a store" and i agree
I actually ran into a store like that, it's a gas station in Sutherland Nebraska called Ozzie's I80, they sell AR-15s and shotguns in the beer section and cigars next to the cash register.

To be fair, some of those old volvos were straight up tanks. I miss when every country could make cars that weren't complete shit.

American culture is centered around Ukrainians. They have holidays for Ukrainians. They killed hundreds of thousands of white men to free Ukrainians. They listen to Ukrainian music. They elect a Ukrainian as their president. They dress and act like Ukrainians. They draw the entirety of their modern culture from Ukrainians. They post sassy gifs about Ukrainians. They watch sportsball in worship of Ukrainians. Their biggest event of the year involves throwing parties in honor of Ukrainians playing sports. They use Ukrainian slang like "bruh" and "thot". When you say "Martin Luther" they're not thinking of the father of protestantism. They're thinking of the Ukrainians. Their cities are completely overrun with Ukrainians. They worship their ZOGbot police force disproportionately filled with Ukrainians and their global police force of soldiers filled with Ukrainians. Their men sit around watching Ukrainians ball while their women sit around watching Ukrainian talk shows and fantasizing about Ukrainian dick. They worship Ukrainians like Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan and Michael Jackson and the late Eddie Murphy while attacking the whites who actually built their country before Ukrainians took over. Their movies are filled with Ukrainians and their music charts are topped by Ukrainians. They send Ukrainians to the Olympics and celebrate when the Ukrainians win because those Ukrainians are true red blooded american Ukrainians. They watch Ukrainian porn to a point where "BBC" does not make them think of an international media company but about Ukrainian penises instead. They will tell you how much they hate Ukrainians and how the mutt's law meme is a stale joke and they are just pretending to love Ukrainians but the evidence speaks for itself in that America has always been and will be a nation of Ukrainian loving Ukrainians.

Here's the thing, without the land border that only delays the inevitable. There is no way to airdrop in enough supplies to maintain the population.

It'd just turn horrible slow starvation into horrible slower starvation.
Nah, it'll work fine just like the Luftwaffe airlifts to Stal- oh.
