The talks will certainly fail.

Russia has too much to lose in this fight.

Remember that Ukraine has trillions in natural gas and that directly threatens Putin's source of power and money
Isn't most of that gas is off the southcoast, in the Black sea though?
So Russia gets control of most of it if they get to keep Krimea and the two seceeding territories.

I thing Putin could accept coming away with recognicion of that land (most of which he de facto controlled already), assurence that Ukraine won't join Nato, plus maybe some water rights for Crimea.

I'd appreciate if he shut the hell up, actually. I understand his situation and the EU+NATO are not innocent but he's basically pushing back at Putin with an invitation to WW3. Putin is one of the few people in this world to aggressively call that bluff and have potential to do real damage at the same time.
He's giving Western mainstream outlets something to talk about, as well as getting his social media crack fix.

So Zelensky
-Allows western "elites" to launder money through his country
-Saber rattles about joining NATO continuously knowing it upsets Russia
-Demands to be let into EU in the middle of an ongoing war with Russia knowing that it will upset them
-Hands out guns to random citizens which have at this point, probably killed more fellow Ukrainians then Russians
-Releases dangerous criminals to help the war effort
-Invites people from wherever the fuck to help fight (this is a great way to get some bad people with bad intentions into the country)
-Got untold number of his own people killed because he didn't want to negotiate with Russia

This dude is getting all his advice from the DNC. Wow
Poor Russia.

No, the last time Mexico fucked around Pershing went in, failed to catch Pancho Villa and quickly got out of that clusterfuck because there was a revolution going on. But at least he brought some Chinks with him so that more Southwestern towns can have opium dens, Asian poon, laundries and eateries while the Chinese Exclusion Act was still in full force.

There's a book that details how the Comanche softened up Mexico for the US. In War of a Thousand Deserts: Indian Raids and the U.S.-Mexican War Brian DeLay, a Berkeley scholar of all things details how barbaric (yes, the author has no qualms about stating the fact that the Coamnche killed, raped, burned, scalped and pillaged everyone and everything in their path) Injun raids depopulated the North which made the state ripe for the picking.
Unironically, thank you for the recommendation. The Comanche sounds really brutal.

I propose that the Russians haven't got the slightest idea about what to do and are just learning on the go.

They still have to adapt to the fact that civilians will be killed on masse and that this war will get really ugly once most of the Russian army is in Ukraine.
Disagree, there's no way Putin and his cronies were oblivious to this blowing up. The Russians have clearly been told to show extreme restraint and I know I'm not the only one surprised by how well they've done at not leveling every city they "capture."
This is about as methodical as you can expect, all things considered.

I'm confused on Putin's endgame though. Redraw the borders and then rely on oil sales to survive?

As i said all the EU needs to do is give a flat "no" and we all avoid the brightest dawn, but given the economic repercussions Russia will suffer i don't doubt Putin won't stop at Ukraine, so its only delaying the inevitable

Those troops are American, or do Latvians have niggers in their army?
A poster in the thread said they are trained by the USA. So that would explain the gear. Personally I think this whole "Anyone can fight for Ukraine" stuff is just a loophole to feed in NATO soldiers.

to think boomers had to take several decades of this cold war bullshit and nuclear dick measuring, no wonder they ended up all screwy

Hot take, war is cringe.
Especially during the early days of this conflict, when it seemed pretty volatile, I was a little worried about going to sleep; like I didn't want to sleep through the ~30 minute ICBM warning. Maybe less if hypersonic missiles are in play. Minor PL: I live in a probable nuclear blast radius if shit were to hit the fan. Crazy how boomers just dealt with ~50 years of that. Although I guess this is more comparable to distinct flare-ups like the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Soldiers of the 173rd Airborne Brigade's 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment board a C-130 plane at Aviano Air Base, Italy, Feb. 24, 2022. Unit members departed for Latvia on Wednesday and Thursday in support of a NATO mission to reassure allies concerned about Russian aggression following the Kremlins invasion of Ukraine. I can't believe the propaganda machine is this incompetent. And people are falling for it?

It's been removed now, but if you looked at the user post history while it was happening, it appeared to be spamming in basically all threads; most likely a bot.
I didn't see that, but one of the mods told me they were the same person and they have both been banned. If you check the post histories, they seemed to have a belief that KF was stalking and killing trans people. So maybe not a bot. Just a troon that snapped and will soon join the 41%.

Anyways, no more having to look a lolicon. Now we can go back to looking at death and destruction like normal people. 🤣
