I think it would be a fairly one-sided war if it doesn't go nuke. It would be basically China and Russia vs the US, which is not a war the US can win, though granted, even without nukes, both China and Russia would also be fucked.

What support from Russia would China have? They can't fight a two front war and have little naval assets that could support an invasion of Taiwan. Not to mention Russia has no nearby military assets that couldn't be interdicted by the Americans such as forces in Vladivostok.

Even if there was China wouldn't be on board because it would be shown to be less of a world wide body and more of a America love in. Letting the west remove Russia would weaken Chinese influence since they could just kick China too so no way they cooperate.

It would be the dumbest thing to give USAF in Europe an excuse to enter combat. F35 memes aside the Russian AF cannot compete with USAF SEAD and BVR AA capabilities nor can they afford losses from a peer to peer skirmish.

The USAF doesn't need to get involved. Poland/Romania just needs the green light to engage their SAMs to deny aircover to the Russian focces.

No one is throwing nuclear weapons unless Russia or NATO proper is invaded. What we're seeing is the US taking the Russians role in the Vietnam conflict and the Russians theirs. The Russians can't shoot at NATOFOR without worsening the situation for themselves.

I guess my perspective is this is considered an existential battle by Putin (based on his comments) and any attempts to directly cockblock it will result in extreme escalation
