when i was in moldova a few years back helping train the moldovan army. this young guy, i believe he was their section leader. i don’t recall his exact rank. but he was like the most knowledgeable of his platoon when it came to UXO’s.

They hardly care about their people dying more than Putin cares about his (there will always be more), the damage to infrastructure will be repaired with European aid money and they will be able to skim several more billions off top of that, being praised as heroes at the same time.

For a Ukrainean politician, doing literally nothing is a win-win-win situation while Russia self-destructs in a blaze of autistic screeching.

This all seems like they're not going in full force. They've done some damage but it's not like we're seeing levelled cities, large scale bombing/artillery or the really fun things Russia has in their arsenal rather than just using up some old surplus. They took key strategic objectives quickly then slowly moved into position. It feels like its all to get Ukraine to the table and threaten some consessions out, hence the no cease fire while negotiating.

I don't think Russia is pants on head enough to unleash their proper toys but then I didn't think they would roll into the Ukraine in the first place either.

That's exactly the problem - they should have went full frontal on the eve of day 2 or 3. None of this "limit civilian casualties" bullshit - just wipe them out as quickly as possible, level a city or two while you're at it.

It was really only after 2014 that they slowly started rearming and reorganizing. Let's hope that the Swedish military will be able to become a serious force before the decade ends. Some good old fashioned military discipline will only do good for that country.

Disagree, plus it goes against Putin's justification for doing this to begin with which would further hurt him domestically which may be important depending on how things go.

Ukraine will lose unless other powers decide to step into the fight more directly and Ukraine's optics are artificially inflated.
